Alderman Sherman <strong>of</strong>fered the following orders,<br />

Ordered:<br />

That a special committee consisting <strong>of</strong> seven<br />

members <strong>of</strong> this "board be appointed by the f resident to co-operate with the<br />

National Hellenic Society and others in the observance <strong>of</strong> the dedicatory<br />

exercises and celebration in honor <strong>of</strong> George Dilboy to be held on August 26,<br />

1930.<br />

Adopted.<br />

Ordered:<br />

His honor the Mayor is hereby requested to<br />

direct the police Department to prohibit the parking <strong>of</strong> automobiles on<br />

Alewlfe Brook Parkway from Broadway to pumping station and no other streets<br />

during "boxing "bouts and other events<br />

and .further to request the Chief <strong>of</strong> Police to communicate with the 1Vi etro-<br />

po'litan Police with a view to eliminating such parking on Alewife Brook<br />

parkway during such events.<br />

Question came on the adoption <strong>of</strong> the order. Vote was by roll<br />

call, 13 Aldermen voting in the negative, 5 Aldermen voting in the affirmati e<br />

2 Aldermen being absent, the President not voting and the order. was not<br />

adopted.<br />

Aid. Sherman made a motion that action be reconsidered, which<br />

was done by a vote <strong>of</strong> 14 to 5. After being reconsidered Aid. Sherman made a<br />

motion that order be amended to read "on Alewife Brook Parkway from Broadway<br />

to Pumping station, and no other streets." with this amendment the cr der was<br />

adopted.<br />

Alderman .Stynes <strong>of</strong>fered the following order and draft <strong>of</strong> or-<br />

Ordered:<br />

The President is hereby requested to appoint<br />

a committe'e <strong>of</strong> seven members <strong>of</strong> this Board t.o cooperate with the American<br />

\Legion in the celebration connected with the -^eglon Convention.<br />

Be it ordained by the Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen <strong>of</strong> the city <strong>of</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong>,<br />

as follows:<br />

Section eight <strong>of</strong> Chapter twenty-nine <strong>of</strong> the Revised Ordinances<br />

<strong>of</strong> 1929 is hereby amended by striking out in the sixth line the words "twenty-five<br />

per cent in excess <strong>of</strong>", so as to read as follows:<br />

The license issued, for a motor vehicle shall designate the<br />

number <strong>of</strong> passengers, exclusive <strong>of</strong> the operator, the licensee is authorized<br />

to carry in said vehicle, and no person operating said vehicle shall cause<br />

or allow more persons to be carried thereon at any time than the number desig<br />
