His honor, the Mayor, is hereby requested in the name ,<br />

<strong>of</strong> the city <strong>of</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong>, to petition the General Court for authority to<br />

borrow money outside the statutory limit <strong>of</strong> .indebtedness, to cover the<br />

necessary expenses in constructing..a:new police station,, two new fire sta-<br />

tions, and two new elementary schools, said amount estimated to be $1,200,<br />

000.<br />

It is understood that his honor, the Mayor, will communicate<br />

with the board <strong>of</strong> aldermen at a later date with reference, to appropriations<br />

for these public service needs.<br />

Question came on the adoption <strong>of</strong> the order... Alderman Gobron<br />

invoked Section 15 and further action delayed until the.next meeting, under<br />

the rules.<br />

Communication from his honor the mayor recommending the establishment <strong>of</strong> a<br />

Accepted.<br />

Municipal Employment Service, reported an<br />

order.<br />

That a Municipal Employment Service be es-<br />

tablished in this city in connection-with a recommendation <strong>of</strong> his honor,<br />

Mayor John J. Murphy, in his inaugural address January 6, 1930, and a com-<br />

munication from his honor dated- January 9, 1930.<br />

It is understood that the expense <strong>of</strong>.this service is to be<br />

approximately $7,500 a year, and will employ a commissioner, assistant com-<br />

missioner and other clerical assistants as needed, and for .which an appro-<br />

priation will be recommended at a later date.<br />

aldermen.<br />

It is understood 'that the salary <strong>of</strong> the. Assistant ^ity Mes-<br />

senger will be $2500.00 .per year plus expenses for the use <strong>of</strong> his car.<br />
