Somerville, January 6, 1930
The members-elect of the board of aldermen for 1930-1931 in
pursuance of notices issued by the city clerk as directed by an order by
the board of aldermen approved November 15, 1929, and in accordance with the
provisions of the City Charter, assembled at the time and place above stated
at eight o'clock in the evening, to inaugurate the City Government of Somer-
ville, for the municipal' year beginning this day.
His honor, the mayor, Leon M. Conv/ell, presiding.
Aldermen-elect 'Grattan, Cronin, Rafferty, Havican, O'Connell,
Donovan, Barrett, Crowl'ey, Walsh, Moran, Stynes, Carr, Pearson, Perry, Car-
roll, Lynch, Elliott, Gobron, Knox, and Sherman present.
Alderman-elect Stynes offered the following motion,
Motion: -
That a committee 'to -consi st of four aldermen-
elect be appointed by the chair to wait upon the mayor-elect and inform him
that the members-elect of the board of aldermen are prepared to receive him
for the purpose of organizing the city government for the ensuing municipal
year.
Adopted and Aldermen-elect Stynes, Walsh, Pearson and Raffer-
ty appointed as the committee provided for by the vote.
The committee appointed to wait upon the mayor-elect having
performed its duty, reported that he was ready to proceed and awaited the
pleasure of the members-elect of the board of aldermen.
Alderman-elect Moran offered the following motion,

Adopted and Aldermen~elect Moran, Carroll, Barrett and Lynch
appointed as the committee provided for by the vote.
The committee last named, retired with the city messenger and
returned with the mayor-elect, Hon. John J. Murphy, and conducted him to
the platform.
Prayer was offered by Rt. Rev. John B. Peterson, D.D. Auxil-
iary Bishop of Boston Archdiocese and Pastor of the Church of St. Catherine
