<strong>Somerville</strong>, January 6, 1930<br />

The members-elect <strong>of</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> aldermen for 1930-1931 in<br />

pursuance <strong>of</strong> notices issued by the city clerk as directed by an order by<br />

the board <strong>of</strong> aldermen approved November 15, 1929, and in accordance with the<br />

provisions <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> Charter, assembled at the time and place above stated<br />

at eight o'clock in the evening, to inaugurate the <strong>City</strong> Government <strong>of</strong> Somer-<br />

ville, for the municipal' year beginning this day.<br />

His honor, the mayor, Leon M. Conv/ell, presiding.<br />

Aldermen-elect 'Grattan, Cronin, Rafferty, Havican, O'Connell,<br />

Donovan, Barrett, Crowl'ey, Walsh, Moran, Stynes, Carr, Pearson, Perry, Car-<br />

roll, Lynch, Elliott, Gobron, Knox, and Sherman present.<br />

Alderman-elect Stynes <strong>of</strong>fered the following motion,<br />

Motion: -<br />

That a committee 'to -consi st <strong>of</strong> four aldermen-<br />

elect be appointed by the chair to wait upon the mayor-elect and inform him<br />

that the members-elect <strong>of</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> aldermen are prepared to receive him<br />

for the purpose <strong>of</strong> organizing the city government for the ensuing municipal<br />

year.<br />

Adopted and Aldermen-elect Stynes, Walsh, Pearson and Raffer-<br />

ty appointed as the committee provided for by the vote.<br />

The committee appointed to wait upon the mayor-elect having<br />

performed its duty, reported that he was ready to proceed and awaited the<br />

pleasure <strong>of</strong> the members-elect <strong>of</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> aldermen.<br />

Alderman-elect Moran <strong>of</strong>fered the following motion,<br />

Adopted and Aldermen~elect Moran, Carroll, Barrett and Lynch<br />

appointed as the committee provided for by the vote.<br />

The committee last named, retired with the city messenger and<br />

returned with the mayor-elect, Hon. John J. Murphy, and conducted him to<br />

the platform.<br />
