Communication from the secretary of the commonwealth giving
notice that Jose Barbosa, Joseph Alphonse,.Louis LlmayCyprianno, Agostinho
G. Camacho, John Alfonso, Manuel K. rjmental, of Somerville, and one person
not resident of Somerville have, filed application for certificate of incor-
poration under the name of The Santo Christo Club and Band for the purpos e
of the following: To maintain a band of musicians; and to foster social rela-
tions among the Portuguese people; and to further the education and moral
progress of its' members, .said communication being accompanied by a report
from the chief of police stating that upon investigation that said appli-
cants have never been engaged in the illegal selling of intoxicating liquor
or in keeping places or . tenements used for the purpose of illegal gaming,
or in any other business or vocation prohibited by law.
Placed on file and certificate to be forwardedto the secretary
signed by members of the board.

In response to the request of the Board of Aldermen on the order of
Alderman Timothy J . C'ronin, relative to the acceptance of Chapter 508 of the
acts of 1929, that the opinion of the city solicitor be obtained concerning
the same I reply as follows.
In response to the query as to whether or not this Act applies to
members of the Fire Signal Service, it is my opinion that the Act does not
so apply, as the members of the Fire Signal Service are not members, of the
Fire Force of the City.

Sec. 1 and city charter, Sec. 41, Fourth paragraph.
