Broadway and Rush street, the vote was by roll call, 8 aldermen voting in the<br />

affirmative, 7 aldermen voting in the negative, 6 aldermen being absent end<br />

the previous action was not reconsidered as section 5 article 2 <strong>of</strong> the rules<br />

<strong>of</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> aldermen requires that a majority <strong>of</strong> the whole board must<br />

vote for reconsideration.<br />

Alderman Sherman <strong>of</strong>fered the following order,<br />

Ordered :<br />

That the statement <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> Solicitor accom-<br />

panying this order relative to Chapter 184 Acts <strong>of</strong> 1930 known as the Somer-<br />

ville retirement bill containing the general purport <strong>of</strong> said act furnished<br />

in accordance with the order <strong>of</strong> this board passed on October 2, 1930 be and<br />

the same is hereby approved for the purpose <strong>of</strong> furnishing information to the<br />

voters <strong>of</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong>, in accordance with general laws Chapter 54 section 56<br />

and the Election Commissioners are hereby directed to mail a copy <strong>of</strong> such<br />

statement to the qualified voters <strong>of</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong> in accordance with provisions<br />

<strong>of</strong> law in that case made and provided.<br />

Read twice and adopted. On motion <strong>of</strong> Aid. Sherman it was<br />

agreed that it be written in the records that the order read twice and adopted<br />

Oct. 2, 1930 requesting the <strong>City</strong> Solicitor to prepare this summary <strong>of</strong> refer-<br />

endum on proposed insurance act should have referred to General Laws, Chap-<br />

ter 54, section 56, instead <strong>of</strong> Chapter 54, section 55,<br />

Approved by the mayor Oct. 21, 1930.<br />
