Broadway and Rush street, the vote was by roll call, 8 aldermen voting in the
affirmative, 7 aldermen voting in the negative, 6 aldermen being absent end
the previous action was not reconsidered as section 5 article 2 of the rules
of the board of aldermen requires that a majority of the whole board must
vote for reconsideration.
Alderman Sherman offered the following order,
Ordered :
That the statement of the City Solicitor accom-
panying this order relative to Chapter 184 Acts of 1930 known as the Somer-
ville retirement bill containing the general purport of said act furnished
in accordance with the order of this board passed on October 2, 1930 be and
the same is hereby approved for the purpose of furnishing information to the
voters of Somerville, in accordance with general laws Chapter 54 section 56
and the Election Commissioners are hereby directed to mail a copy of such
statement to the qualified voters of Somerville in accordance with provisions
of law in that case made and provided.
Read twice and adopted. On motion of Aid. Sherman it was
agreed that it be written in the records that the order read twice and adopted
Oct. 2, 1930 requesting the City Solicitor to prepare this summary of refer-
endum on proposed insurance act should have referred to General Laws, Chap-
ter 54, section 56, instead of Chapter 54, section 55,
