In meeting <strong>of</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> aldermen and<br />

school committee, <strong>City</strong> Hall, <strong>Somerville</strong>,<br />

February 13, 1930.<br />

The school committee met with the board <strong>of</strong> aldermen to elect<br />

by joint ballot a member <strong>of</strong> the school committee from ward five, to fill va-<br />

cancy caused by Edmund M. Lanigan declining to serve, due notice having been<br />

s<br />

mailed to each member <strong>of</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> aldermen and school committee by di-<br />

rection <strong>of</strong> the president.<strong>of</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> aldermen and chairman <strong>of</strong> the school<br />

committee.<br />

Aldermen Gobron, Sherman, Knox, Elliott, Perry, Pearson,<br />

Stynes, Barrett, .Walsh, Denning, Havican, O'Connell, Cronin, Donovan,Raffer-<br />

ty, Carroll, Lynch, Gratton, vice-president Crowley and president Carr <strong>of</strong><br />

the board <strong>of</strong> aldermen and Mr. Giroux, Miss Cairnes, Messrs. Kelleher, Scanlan<br />

Misses Merrill, Turner, Messrs. Lanigan, Nangle, Dr. Cholerton, Mr. Shaw,<br />

Dr. Sweeley, Mr. Waldon, vice-chairman Dewire and chairman Fitzpatrick <strong>of</strong><br />

the school committee present.<br />

, Miss Cairnes <strong>of</strong> the school committee nominated Louis B. Con-<br />

nelly and Alderman Gobron nominated Patrick Henry Ryan.<br />

It was voted that the nominations be closed.<br />

There being no further nominations, the president announced,<br />

that the members <strong>of</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> aldermen and <strong>of</strong> the school committee would<br />

proceed to ballot and directed the clerks to call the rolls.<br />

The votes were given orally by the several members as their<br />

names were called by the clerk <strong>of</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> aldermen and by the secretary<br />

<strong>of</strong> -the school committee.<br />
