In meeting of the board of aldermen and
school committee, City Hall, Somerville,
February 13, 1930.
The school committee met with the board of aldermen to elect
by joint ballot a member of the school committee from ward five, to fill va-
cancy caused by Edmund M. Lanigan declining to serve, due notice having been
s
mailed to each member of the board of aldermen and school committee by di-
rection of the president.of the board of aldermen and chairman of the school
committee.
Aldermen Gobron, Sherman, Knox, Elliott, Perry, Pearson,
Stynes, Barrett, .Walsh, Denning, Havican, O'Connell, Cronin, Donovan,Raffer-
ty, Carroll, Lynch, Gratton, vice-president Crowley and president Carr of
the board of aldermen and Mr. Giroux, Miss Cairnes, Messrs. Kelleher, Scanlan
Misses Merrill, Turner, Messrs. Lanigan, Nangle, Dr. Cholerton, Mr. Shaw,
Dr. Sweeley, Mr. Waldon, vice-chairman Dewire and chairman Fitzpatrick of
the school committee present.
, Miss Cairnes of the school committee nominated Louis B. Con-
nelly and Alderman Gobron nominated Patrick Henry Ryan.
It was voted that the nominations be closed.
There being no further nominations, the president announced,
that the members of the board of aldermen and of the school committee would
proceed to ballot and directed the clerks to call the rolls.
The votes were given orally by the several members as their
names were called by the clerk of the board of aldermen and by the secretary
of -the school committee.
