Section 1. Police officers shall not sell or assign their pay
or give powers of attorney for collection thereof, except by permission of
the chief of police.
Section 2. T he salary and pay of the police shall be paid to
each person entitled thereto, subject however, to deductions for loss or
sick time and to such deductions as shall be made to satisfy fines imposed
on any member by way of discipline or punishment.
RULE Xll
ABSENCE FROM DUTY
Section 1. No police officer shall be absent from duty, except
In case of disability or during his annual vacation, or day off, without
permission of the chief of police. On occasions, of emergency the chief
of police may grant leave of absence for a period r->b exceeding ten days at
any one time.
^- * Section 2. When a police officer is injured or sick so as to
be unfit for duty, he shall Immediately report to the chief of captain
Should the officer be unable, on account of such disability, to report in per
son, he shall send word to the station house and the chief or captain shall
investigate the case as soon as possible after receiving the message. When
an officer is taken ill during his tour of duty, he shall at once- report to
the station house or to his sergeant.
RULE Xlll
SPECIAL POLICE
Section 1. Applications to be appointed special police officers
will be examined and 'reported on by the chief of police. No person will
be appointed a special police officer who is under twenty-two yea-nS of ac;e
or who is not able to read and write the English language understandingly /
or who is not of good moral character.

badge by the chief of police, which they shall wear on the left breast while
on duty, and they shall surrender said badge at the end of their time of service,
or when they resign, or are* discharged. If an officer loses his badge
he shall immediately report such loss to the chief of police who will furnish
him a new badge upon payment therefor. -urnisn
Section 3. Special police officers shall assist regular officers
in preserving the peace or taking a prisoner to the station house.
When a special police officer calls the patrol wagon to take
a person to the station house he shall accompany the prisoner.
RULE XIV
STATION HOUSES

Section 2. Civility and attention shall be shown to every person
visiting the station house on business. No person shall be permitted to
remain in a station house without permission of the' officer in charge except
members of the department and persons on business. No person except*
superior officers or persons authorized by them shall be allowed to enter behind
the desk, and no officer except the one in charge shall be allowed to
remain In the central office.

for the comfort of the men and the proper transaction of business, shall be
observed in the use of fuel and gas, and care shall be taken thaththe p-operty
of the city is neither wasted, injured nor destroyed.

oeds and bedding shall be kept clean and neat, and any disorderly irregular
negligent or uncleanly habits on the part of any members of the force shall'
be prevented or punished.
