Thursday. February 13. 1930<br />

Section 1. Police <strong>of</strong>ficers shall not sell or assign their pay<br />

or give powers <strong>of</strong> attorney for collection there<strong>of</strong>, except by permission <strong>of</strong><br />

the chief <strong>of</strong> police.<br />

Section 2. T he salary and pay <strong>of</strong> the police shall be paid to<br />

each person entitled thereto, subject however, to deductions for loss or<br />

sick time and to such deductions as shall be made to satisfy fines imposed<br />

on any member by way <strong>of</strong> discipline or punishment.<br />

RULE Xll<br />

ABSENCE FROM DUTY<br />

Section 1. No police <strong>of</strong>ficer shall be absent from duty, except<br />

In case <strong>of</strong> disability or during his annual vacation, or day <strong>of</strong>f, without<br />

permission <strong>of</strong> the chief <strong>of</strong> police. On occasions, <strong>of</strong> emergency the chief<br />

<strong>of</strong> police may grant leave <strong>of</strong> absence for a period r->b exceeding ten days at<br />

any one time.<br />

^- * Section 2. When a police <strong>of</strong>ficer is injured or sick so as to<br />

be unfit for duty, he shall Immediately report to the chief <strong>of</strong> captain<br />

Should the <strong>of</strong>ficer be unable, on account <strong>of</strong> such disability, to report in per<br />

son, he shall send word to the station house and the chief or captain shall<br />

investigate the case as soon as possible after receiving the message. When<br />

an <strong>of</strong>ficer is taken ill during his tour <strong>of</strong> duty, he shall at once- report to<br />

the station house or to his sergeant.<br />

RULE Xlll<br />

SPECIAL POLICE<br />

Section 1. Applications to be appointed special police <strong>of</strong>ficers<br />

will be examined and 'reported on by the chief <strong>of</strong> police. No person will<br />

be appointed a special police <strong>of</strong>ficer who is under twenty-two yea-nS <strong>of</strong> ac;e<br />

or who is not able to read and write the English language understandingly /<br />

or who is not <strong>of</strong> good moral character.<br />

*n*ff» -K v>, v,- * * 1 Special police <strong>of</strong>ficers will be furnished with a<br />

badge by the chief <strong>of</strong> police, which they shall wear on the left breast while<br />

on duty, and they shall surrender said badge at the end <strong>of</strong> their time <strong>of</strong> service,<br />

or when they resign, or are* discharged. If an <strong>of</strong>ficer loses his badge<br />

he shall immediately report such loss to the chief <strong>of</strong> police who will furnish<br />

him a new badge upon payment therefor. -urnisn<br />

Section 3. Special police <strong>of</strong>ficers shall assist regular <strong>of</strong>ficers<br />

in preserving the peace or taking a prisoner to the station house.<br />

When a special police <strong>of</strong>ficer calls the patrol wagon to take<br />

a person to the station house he shall accompany the prisoner.<br />

RULE XIV<br />

Section 2. Civility and attention shall be shown to every person<br />

visiting the station house on business. No person shall be permitted to<br />

remain in a station house without permission <strong>of</strong> the' <strong>of</strong>ficer in charge except<br />

members <strong>of</strong> the department and persons on business. No person except*<br />

superior <strong>of</strong>ficers or persons authorized by them shall be allowed to enter behind<br />

the desk, and no <strong>of</strong>ficer except the one in charge shall be allowed to<br />

remain In the central <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

for the comfort <strong>of</strong> the men and the proper transaction <strong>of</strong> business, shall be<br />

observed in the use <strong>of</strong> fuel and gas, and care shall be taken thaththe p-operty<br />

<strong>of</strong> the city is neither wasted, injured nor destroyed.<br />

oeds and bedding shall be kept clean and neat, and any disorderly irregular<br />
