MOTIONS. ORDERS AND RESOLUTIONS.
The president offered the following orders,
Ordered:
An order for Highway Betterment Assessment
relative to Forster street, dated Nov. .26, 1929, having been rescinded by an
order dated Feb. 15, 1930 and two abutters having paid the assessment it is
hereby ordered that the sum of $116.18 be abated to Miss Mary C. Northup, 9
Forster street'and the sum of |6.48 be abated to Emma D. Hadley, 11 Forster
street and the city treasurer is hereby authorized to make these abatements.

Ordered:
Pending the adoption of the annual budget the
sum of four thousand (4,000) dollars is hereby appropriated for Executive
Department.
Question came on the adoption of Che order, Alderman Gobron
invoked Section 15 and further action delayed.

Pending the adoption of the annual budget the .
sum of twelve hundred (1200) dollars is hereby appropriated for Assessors'
Department for the purpose of preparing plans and data for the installation
of the Somers System of Assessment, said sum to be an additional amount for
the account of said department.

Resolved:
That the. Board of Aldermen adopt the_follow-
RESOLUTIONS
Whereas, Frank W» Kaan has retired from his service as
City Solicitor of the city of Somerville and
Whereas, Frank W. Kaan has served his City, as City
Solicitor, for an uninterrupted period of almost thirty-two years, his first
appointment having been made in August 1897, and
Whereas, during his service as City Solicitor the du-
ties and responsibilities of that most important office have been fulfilled
by him in a manner and with an ability most beneficial to his City, there-
fore be it
Resolved that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen express
to Mr. Kaan the sincere appreciation of the people of the City of Somerville
