MOTIONS. ORDERS AND RESOLUTIONS.<br />

The president <strong>of</strong>fered the following orders,<br />

Ordered:<br />

An order for Highway Betterment Assessment<br />

relative to Forster street, dated Nov. .26, 1929, having been rescinded by an<br />

order dated Feb. 15, 1930 and two abutters having paid the assessment it is<br />

hereby ordered that the sum <strong>of</strong> $116.18 be abated to Miss Mary C. Northup, 9<br />

Forster street'and the sum <strong>of</strong> |6.48 be abated to Emma D. Hadley, 11 Forster<br />

street and the city treasurer is hereby authorized to make these abatements.<br />

* Referred to Committee on Public*Works.<br />

Ordered:<br />

Pending the adoption <strong>of</strong> the annual budget the<br />

sum <strong>of</strong> four thousand (4,000) dollars is hereby appropriated for Executive<br />

Department.<br />

Question came on the adoption <strong>of</strong> Che order, Alderman Gobron<br />

invoked Section 15 and further action delayed.<br />

Ordered:<br />

Pending the adoption <strong>of</strong> the annual budget the .<br />

sum <strong>of</strong> twelve hundred (1200) dollars is hereby appropriated for Assessors'<br />

Department for the purpose <strong>of</strong> preparing plans and data for the installation<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Somers System <strong>of</strong> Assessment, said sum to be an additional amount for<br />

the account <strong>of</strong> said department.<br />

Resolved:<br />

That the. Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen adopt the_follow-<br />

RESOLUTIONS<br />

Whereas, Frank W» Kaan has retired from his service as<br />

<strong>City</strong> Solicitor <strong>of</strong> the city <strong>of</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong> and<br />

Whereas, Frank W. Kaan has served his <strong>City</strong>, as <strong>City</strong><br />

Solicitor, for an uninterrupted period <strong>of</strong> almost thirty-two years, his first<br />

appointment having been made in August 1897, and<br />

Whereas, during his service as <strong>City</strong> Solicitor the du-<br />

ties and responsibilities <strong>of</strong> that most important <strong>of</strong>fice have been fulfilled<br />

by him in a manner and with an ability most beneficial to his <strong>City</strong>, there-<br />

fore be it<br />

Resolved that the Mayor and Board <strong>of</strong> Aldermen express<br />

to Mr. Kaan the sincere appreciation <strong>of</strong> the people <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong><br />
