On motion of Alderman- Sherman, seconded by Alderman 'Knox the
rules were suspended and the following orders were offered.
MOTIONS, ORDERS AND RESOLUTIONS.
The president offered the following order,

His honor the mayor is hereby authorized to
make a settlement of the claim of Margherita Mirabello, minor, by John Mira-
bello, as father and next friend, arising out of injuries received July 25,
1929, by reason of an alleged defect on Broadway, for the sum of three hun-
dred (300) dollars, the expense so incurred to be charged to Damage to Per-
sons and Personal Property Account.
Read twice and adopted.
Presented to the mayor May 9, 1930. Order not having been
returned vjithin the prescribed terv da-ya, same ts effective.
The vice president offered the following orders,.
Ordered:
His honor the mayor and chief of police is here
by requested to consider the advisability of affording additional police pro-
tection in the East Somerville district on account of the numerous breaks
and hold ups which have occurred within the last two months;
Adopted.
Ordered:
That the Committee on Public Works consider the
advisability of installing a separate sewer system on Franklin avenue.
Adopted.
Ordered:
The sum of eleven hundred ninety four and 6/100
(1194.06) dollars is hereby transferred from Municipal Employment Service'to
Exeoutive Department account.

That a driveway be constructed in frpnt of the
estate of James Corcoran, 53 Thurston street, when lie shall have first de-
