Two minority-reports having been received question came on
.substituting the first minority report signed by Aid. Sherman, in part, for
the majority repprt. At this stage on motion of Aid. Gobron roll call- vote
taken to lay budget on table, - defeated - 12 to .5, 5 Aldermen absent.
Aid. Gobron then made a motion that the meeting stand ad-
journed. After considerable discussion question came on having the main
question put and this action to adjourn was defeated 9 to 8, 4 Aldermen ab-
sent .
Aid. Sherman then made a motion that each item in his minori-
ty report be acted on by roll call vote, separately, and the.question came
on substituting that portion of his minority report labeled "A 11 amounting
to $9,000. The vote was by roll call and this substitution was not made,
by a -vote of 11 to 6, 4 Aldermen being absent.
Question then came on substituting that portion of minority
report known as "B" in the amount of $5,000. The vote was by roll call and
substitution was defeated 13 to 4, 4 Aldermen being absent.
Question then came on substituting that portion of minority
report known as "C" in the amount of $10,000. The vote was by roll call and
substitution was defeated by a vote of 13 to 4, 4 Aldermen being absent.
Question then came on substituting that portion of minority
report known as "D" in the amount of $6,044. This substitution was defeated
by a -vote- of 13 to 4, 4 Aldermen being absent.
Question then came on substituting that p.ortion of minority
report known as "E" in the amount of $1,820. Substitution was defeated by a
vote of 11 to 6, 4 Aldermen being absent.
Question then came on substituting that portion of minority
report known as "F" in the amount of $3,000. The vote, was by roll call, 9
Aldermen voting in the affirmative, 8 Aldermen voting in the negative, 4
Aldermen being absent and that portion of minority report applying to Legis-
lative (Jounsel 'in the sum of $3,000 was substituted for the majority report,
Later Aid. Moran made s motion that this last item be recon-
sidered. The vote was by roll call, 9 Aldermen voting in the affirmative, 8
Aldermen voting in the -negative, 4 Aldermen being absent, and the previous
v»te was not reconsidered, as a majority vote is necessary to allow recon-
sideration.
Question came on substituting the minority report for that
portion of majority report. The vote was by roll call, 17 Aldermen voting
in the affirmative, 4 Aldermen being absent. (On minority report Aid. Grattar

After two minority reports had been considered, the question
came on accepting the majority report of the Committee on Finance. The vote
