The Committee on Public Property is hereby re-
quested to consider the advisability of replacing the wire fence in the rear
of the Hodgkins school "between Simpson avenue and Paulina street.
Adopted.
Alderman Ellictt offered the following order,
Ordered:
His honor the Mayor is hereby requested to con-
sider the advisability of including in the annual budget for next year an
amount sufficient to cover the purchase of automatic voting machines.
Adopted.
Later in the evening reconsidered on motion of Aid. Stynes
and then referred to Committee on Finance.
Alderman Gobron offered the following orders,
Ordered:
His honor the Mayor is hereby requested to in-
form the Board of Aldermen why non residents of Somerville in large proper-
tions are employed in the construction of the Southern Junior. High School, in
view of the fact that the contract betwe.en the city Brid;>the. contractor states
that city labor must be employed..
Laid on the table and city clerk instructed to notify the
contractor and -foreman 'in charge of the Western Junior High School and
Southern Junior High School construction work to appear at a private special
meeting of this board to be held Wednesday Nov. 19, 1950 at 7.30 p.m. at the
Board of Aldermen chamber and to request.that the records of all employees
who have worked on either job from the start of construction to date, such as
name, age, home address, married or single, whether a veteran and whether a
member of the Union, be brought to said meeting, and that the contractor and
foreman also be requested to bring the records of sub-contractors.
Ordered:
That a special committee consi sting _o_f five mem-
jers of this board be appointed by the "president to investigate and report on
the creation of additional voting precincts throughout the city so that no pre
cinct shall have more than one thousand voters.
