Boedo and Florida in the Pages of Los Pensadores

Resumen
En la Argentina tuvo lugar entre 1924 y 1930 una polémica literario–política
centrada en las revistas Martín Fierro, por un lado y Los Pensadores
y Claridad por el otro, referente al objetivo de la literatura y su papel en
la sociedad, aspectos que ejemplifican posiciones diferentes frente a lo
real, la literatura como tarea y la obra como comunicación y portadora
de significado. Los dos grupos intentaron legitimar sus objetivos frente a
lo canónico: Florida atacó los modelos modernista, realista y los residuos
románticos, y Boedo trató de ampliar la noción de público literario. Sin
embargo, la disputa motivó más leyendas que vanguardias. En esta oportunidad
nos interesa analizar, desde la perspectiva de la historia de la
ideas y centrados en Los Pensadores, la mencionada polémica como expresión
propia de la época.

Abstract
Between 1924 and 1930 there was in Argentina a literary–political
controversy centered around the journals Martin Fierro, on the one
hand, and Los Pensadores and Claridad on the other, concerning the aim
of literature and its role in society, aspects that illustrate different
standings facing the reality, literature as a task, and the literary piece as
communication and the conveyor of meaning. The two opposing groups
tried to legitimize their objectives in response to canonicity: Florida
attacked the modernist and realistic models and the romantic residues,
whereas Boedo tried to enlarge the notion of literary public. However, the
dispute caused more legends than advances. In this paper we are
concerned with the analysis of such a controversy as an expression of
the time, from the perspective of the history of ideas and pivoting
around Los Pensadores.
