Background, orientation <strong>and</strong> purpose<br />

Profiles France<br />

ENSATT is a dramatic arts school which was established <strong>in</strong> Paris <strong>in</strong> 1941 <strong>and</strong> later moved to Lyon. It<br />

has various departments, each concentrat<strong>in</strong>g on a specific area of theatre such as act<strong>in</strong>g, drama,<br />

light, sound, design, costume mak<strong>in</strong>g, set design <strong>and</strong> theatre <strong>management</strong>.<br />

The school is well known. The students are exceptionally talented, <strong>in</strong> accordance with the high<br />

st<strong>and</strong>ards dem<strong>and</strong>ed by rigorous entrance procedures. This means that <strong>in</strong> terms of employment, it is<br />

easy for theatre managers to f<strong>in</strong>d a job. ENSATT aims to become an <strong>in</strong>ternational school.<br />

Content<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> objective is to provide the k<strong>in</strong>d of tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g that will enable students to f<strong>in</strong>d employment <strong>in</strong><br />

theatrical <strong>and</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> fields. The deadl<strong>in</strong>e for applications is the beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g of March.<br />

International/European dimension<br />

ENSATT is a member of ELIA <strong>and</strong> SOCRATES (EU programme).<br />

Special <strong>in</strong>formation<br />

Students attend conferences, meet<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>and</strong> sem<strong>in</strong>ars. They are <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> do<strong>in</strong>g 4 productions per<br />

year.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

Student performance is evaluated through exam<strong>in</strong>ations, papers, f<strong>in</strong>al paper/thesis <strong>and</strong> practical<br />

work/<strong>in</strong>ternship.<br />

Lecturers<br />

The number of teach<strong>in</strong>g personnel is 80, 32 of whom are women. The person responsible for the study<br />

programme is Gérard Schembri.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Applicants should have a university degree (two years) <strong>and</strong> should not be older than 25. They should<br />

also have completed A levels. Appropriate experience is preferred.<br />

Student profile<br />

Students are young university graduates from France <strong>and</strong> abroad.<br />

The current number of students is 7 per year.<br />
