Content<br />

European Diploma <strong>in</strong> Cultural Project Management:<br />

This programme, established <strong>in</strong> 1989, is a tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> learn<strong>in</strong>g experience based on the recognition<br />

of <strong>cultural</strong> diversity <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>terregional exchange as a means of rais<strong>in</strong>g the profile of culture <strong>in</strong> Europe.<br />

Through its content <strong>and</strong> methodology, it aims not only at improv<strong>in</strong>g skills <strong>in</strong> the field of <strong>cultural</strong><br />

<strong>management</strong> <strong>and</strong> adm<strong>in</strong>istration, but also at help<strong>in</strong>g the participants develop their underst<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g of<br />

these fields <strong>in</strong> a chang<strong>in</strong>g Europe. Its ma<strong>in</strong> goals are to make participants aware of the challenges<br />

with<strong>in</strong> their area of <strong>in</strong>terest, <strong>and</strong> to develop approaches <strong>and</strong> tools needed for co-operation with, <strong>and</strong><br />

development of, a creative <strong>cultural</strong> workforce <strong>in</strong> Europe.<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> objectives of the programme are: strengthen<strong>in</strong>g of knowledge, competencies, skills <strong>and</strong><br />

theoretical references <strong>in</strong> the field; development of a network of European <strong>cultural</strong> managers <strong>and</strong><br />

enhancement of skills <strong>and</strong> attitudes related to network<strong>in</strong>g; <strong>and</strong> promotion of transnational cooperation<br />

<strong>and</strong> professional mobility, br<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g Europe closer to its citizens.<br />

The issues addressed dur<strong>in</strong>g theoretical sessions are: Europe <strong>and</strong> culture (<strong>cultural</strong> trends, <strong>in</strong>stitutions,<br />

policies, co-operation, etc.); territorial development; strategic plann<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> operational <strong>management</strong><br />

of <strong>cultural</strong> projects; <strong>and</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> co-operation.<br />

The programme <strong>in</strong>cludes a 5-month practical tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g period, reports on the progress of one’s own<br />

project, <strong>and</strong> an evaluation phase for exchang<strong>in</strong>g experiences <strong>in</strong> the field. The Diploma is not<br />

academically recognised. The clos<strong>in</strong>g date for applications is around 10th January each year.<br />
