S<strong>in</strong>ce 1993, ATER (Associazione Teatrale Emilia Romagna) has offered a tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g programme cover<strong>in</strong>g<br />

the <strong>management</strong> aspects of <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>and</strong> theatrical enterprises, which <strong>in</strong>cludes advanced <strong>and</strong> further<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, together with retra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> specialisation.<br />

In 1998, ATER signed an agreement with the University of Bologna Music <strong>and</strong> Drama Department to<br />

manage courses for graduates <strong>and</strong> to carry out research activities, sem<strong>in</strong>ars <strong>and</strong> meet<strong>in</strong>gs with<strong>in</strong> the<br />

perform<strong>in</strong>g arts.<br />

Content<br />

Postgraduate course for Press <strong>and</strong> Communication Agents for Cultural Enterprises <strong>in</strong>cludes:<br />

communication techniques; <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>policy</strong> <strong>in</strong> Italy <strong>and</strong> Europe; <strong>cultural</strong> economics; project<br />

<strong>management</strong>; <strong>cultural</strong> tourism; work placement (348 hours); study trip abroad.<br />

Postgraduate course for Managers of the Perform<strong>in</strong>g Arts:<br />

Offered <strong>in</strong> co-operation with the University of Bologna Music <strong>and</strong> Drama Department. Ma<strong>in</strong> subjects<br />

are: theatre <strong>policy</strong> <strong>in</strong> Italy <strong>and</strong> Europe; law; <strong>cultural</strong> economics; enterprise strategies <strong>and</strong> policies;<br />

quality <strong>management</strong> for theatres; production <strong>and</strong> market<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Perform<strong>in</strong>g Arts Market<strong>in</strong>g - Updat<strong>in</strong>g Courses:<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> purpose of the course is to update the perform<strong>in</strong>g arts operator with new techniques <strong>in</strong><br />

market<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> computer applications.<br />

International/European dimension<br />

The ATER co-operates with foreign <strong>in</strong>stitutions by, for <strong>in</strong>stance, exchang<strong>in</strong>g projects <strong>and</strong> teachers. The<br />

<strong>in</strong>stitution is a member of ENCATC.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

Student performance is evaluated through exam<strong>in</strong>ations, papers <strong>and</strong> a f<strong>in</strong>al paper/thesis.<br />

Lecturers<br />

The number of teach<strong>in</strong>g personnel is 30, of whom10 are women. Six are permanent <strong>and</strong> 24 ar visit<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
