Background, orientation and purpose
With about 18,000 students and 450 professors, the University of Applied Sciences Cologne is the
largest university of applied sciences in Germany. Apart from offering a wide range of high-quality
courses of study and research projects, the University of Applied Sciences Cologne, founded in 1971,
is an important partner for other universities and companies far beyond its borders and fosters various
international relationships inside and outside Germany.
Study in Cologne and Gummersbach is characterised by application-orientated and interdisciplinary
course matter, integrated semesters with practical orientation and a short period of study. The
University of Applied Sciences Cologne offers 7-semester or 8-semester programs leading to a degree.
