PhD <strong>in</strong> Theatre Creation, specialisation <strong>in</strong> Theatre Management:<br />

This PhD study is supervised by the Branch Board. The scientific background of PhD studies <strong>in</strong>volves a<br />

supervisor who, <strong>in</strong> co-operation with the student, prepares the student’s <strong>in</strong>dividual study Programme.<br />

A dissertation, which must be defended <strong>and</strong> a state f<strong>in</strong>al exam/viva voce complete the PhD study.<br />

International/European dimension<br />

As well as at least two courses with guest lecturers from different European countries, all courses<br />

<strong>in</strong>clude <strong>in</strong>volvement <strong>in</strong> the International Festival of Theatre Schools Encounter. The <strong>in</strong>stitution is a<br />

member of ELIA <strong>and</strong> ENCATC.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

BA / MA <strong>in</strong> Theatre Management / BA <strong>in</strong> Stage Technology <strong>and</strong> Management:<br />

Student performance is evaluated through exam<strong>in</strong>ations, papers, research, a f<strong>in</strong>al paper/thesis <strong>and</strong><br />

practical work/<strong>in</strong>ternship.<br />

PhD <strong>in</strong> Theatre Creation, specialisation <strong>in</strong> Theatre Management:<br />

Student performance is evaluated through exam<strong>in</strong>ations, papers, research <strong>and</strong> a f<strong>in</strong>al paper/thesis.<br />

Lecturers<br />

The number of teach<strong>in</strong>g personnel is 16, 3 of whom are women. Seven are permanent <strong>and</strong> 9 are<br />

visit<strong>in</strong>g. The Theatre Management Studio also offers general subjects taught by the teachers from<br />

other theory departments. The person responsible for the study programmes is Doc. Mgr. Jan Kolegar.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

BA / MA <strong>in</strong> Theatre Management:<br />

Students should have a secondary education completed by a school leav<strong>in</strong>g exam<strong>in</strong>ation (A levels),<br />

appropriate experience <strong>and</strong> have talent <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>tellectual potential.<br />

BA <strong>in</strong> Stage Technology <strong>and</strong> Management:<br />

Students should have a secondary education completed by a school leav<strong>in</strong>g exam<strong>in</strong>ation (A levels),<br />

appropriate experience, have talent <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>tellectual potential <strong>and</strong> be <strong>in</strong> good health.<br />

PhD <strong>in</strong> Theatre Creation, specialisation <strong>in</strong> Theatre Management:<br />

Students should have a university diploma or MA study programme <strong>in</strong> Dramatic Act<strong>in</strong>g or a related<br />

discipl<strong>in</strong>e, together with a great ability to analyse their own artistic or expert activities.<br />

BA <strong>in</strong> Stage Technology <strong>and</strong> Management:<br />

Students are from Czech Republic <strong>and</strong> Eastern Europe.<br />

Number of students admitted<br />

BA <strong>in</strong> Theatre Management - Current number of students is 10.<br />

MA <strong>in</strong> Theatre Management - Current number of students is 8.<br />

BA <strong>in</strong> Stage Technology <strong>and</strong> Management - Current number of students is between 4 <strong>and</strong> 8<br />

PhD <strong>in</strong> Theatre Creation, specialisation <strong>in</strong> Theatre Management - Current number of students is 3.<br />

Course fee<br />

The education is <strong>in</strong> the Czech language <strong>and</strong> is free; for <strong>in</strong>ternational students the fee depends on the<br />

number of teach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> contact hours (average fee is about 60,000 CZK = EUR 1,780).<br />

Grants or other f<strong>in</strong>ancial support<br />

Foreign students can apply for a grant from their M<strong>in</strong>istries of Education if their home country has<br />

concluded a bilateral agreement on educational co-operation.<br />
