Content<br />

The tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g is divided <strong>in</strong>to 4 different modules.<br />

Special <strong>in</strong>formation<br />

Profiles: Belgium<br />

The programme takes place with<strong>in</strong> four different universities: Brussels (B), Tilburg (NL) <strong>and</strong> Deusto<br />

(Bilbao-ESP), Loughborough (UK). There are seven areas of study:<br />

1. European studies (Brussels): European law, political <strong>and</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> development <strong>in</strong> Europe.<br />

2. European Leisure studies (Tilburg): globalization, leisure <strong>and</strong> the city, leisure <strong>and</strong> social theory,<br />

history of European leisure studies.<br />

3. Tourism (Tilburg), development <strong>and</strong> susta<strong>in</strong>ability: European tourism, tourism <strong>and</strong> <strong>cultural</strong><br />

susta<strong>in</strong>ability, tourism <strong>and</strong> environment.<br />

4. European leisure markets <strong>and</strong> leisure <strong>management</strong> (Deusto): European s<strong>in</strong>gle market, cost-benefit<br />

analysis, economic impact studies, strategic plann<strong>in</strong>g, leisure market<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

5. Culture, urban regeneration <strong>and</strong> European development (Deusto): sociology of culture, culture <strong>and</strong><br />

European development, <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>and</strong> urban regeneration, <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>in</strong>dustries, art <strong>and</strong> heritage, social<br />

<strong>and</strong> environmental impact studies.<br />

6. European leisure <strong>policy</strong> system (Loughborough): def<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>policy</strong> to public <strong>policy</strong> analysis, national<br />

<strong>policy</strong> systems <strong>and</strong> leisure <strong>policy</strong> <strong>in</strong> Westem Europe, leisure <strong>policy</strong> <strong>in</strong> the state, post materialist<br />

politics, comparative <strong>and</strong> transnational <strong>policy</strong>.<br />

7. Leisure, Sport <strong>and</strong> the Communities (Loughborough): sport <strong>and</strong> the city, market<strong>in</strong>g public sports<br />

policies, the economics of sport <strong>in</strong> Europe, community development <strong>and</strong> sports <strong>policy</strong>, sport <strong>and</strong><br />

national identity.<br />

F<strong>in</strong>al thesis based on a comparative transnational or global research (10,000 -12,000 words).<br />

Additional courses: Spanish language, optional courses.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Access is limited to 35 students. A undergraduate degree (preferably <strong>in</strong> a leisure-related field or social<br />

sciences) <strong>and</strong> proficiency <strong>in</strong> English are the m<strong>in</strong>imum entry requirements.<br />

European Dimension<br />

<strong>Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g</strong> takes place <strong>in</strong> different universities <strong>in</strong> Europe. Students <strong>and</strong> the teach<strong>in</strong>g teams are from<br />

different European countries.<br />

Student profile<br />

Students come from the home countries of the organiz<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>stitutions, EU countries <strong>and</strong> non-EU<br />

countries.<br />
