Background, orientation <strong>and</strong> purpose<br />

The University of Central Lancashire was established as a University <strong>in</strong> 1992. Previously a polytechnic,<br />

<strong>and</strong> orig<strong>in</strong>ally founded <strong>in</strong> the 19th century, UCLan values <strong>and</strong> practises equality of opportunity,<br />

Content<br />

The course has been designed with two aims <strong>in</strong> m<strong>in</strong>d: to <strong>in</strong>troduce students to the range of activities<br />

with<strong>in</strong> the heritage field, <strong>and</strong> to equip the student with the skills to enable him/her to pursue a<br />

<strong>management</strong> career <strong>in</strong> the heritage field.<br />

The deadl<strong>in</strong>e for applications is 2 February.<br />

Special <strong>in</strong>formation<br />

The University organises regular field trips.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

Student performance is evaluated through exam<strong>in</strong>ations <strong>and</strong> papers.<br />

Lecturers<br />

The number of teach<strong>in</strong>g personnel is 21, 4 of whom are female. The person responsible for the study<br />

programme is Course Leader Keith Parsons.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Secondary school certificate. Mature students are assessed on <strong>in</strong>dividual merit <strong>and</strong> work experience.<br />

Students are from the United K<strong>in</strong>gdom but it should be noted that applications are welcome from non-<br />

UK nationals.<br />
