The Royal School of Library <strong>and</strong> Information Science was established <strong>in</strong> 1956. It is an educational <strong>and</strong><br />

research <strong>in</strong>stitution responsible to the Danish M<strong>in</strong>istry of Cultural Affairs for education, research <strong>and</strong><br />

development at the highest level <strong>in</strong> the field of library <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>formation science (LIS).<br />

Content<br />

Cultural Policy <strong>in</strong> Late Modernity - mediation <strong>and</strong> plann<strong>in</strong>g:<br />

A course for work<strong>in</strong>g librarians <strong>and</strong> employees of <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>in</strong>stitutions <strong>and</strong> adm<strong>in</strong>istrative bodies on<br />

<strong>cultural</strong> theory, mediation <strong>and</strong> plann<strong>in</strong>g. The deadl<strong>in</strong>e for applications is June 2002.<br />

Cultural Theory <strong>in</strong> the Library <strong>and</strong> Information Sector:<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> objective is to position the library <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>formation sectors <strong>in</strong>to a <strong>cultural</strong> context.<br />

International/European dimension<br />

Excursions to <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>in</strong>stitutions are organised for the participants of the courses.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

Student performance is evaluated through participation on the courses <strong>and</strong> a f<strong>in</strong>al paper/thesis.<br />

Lecturers<br />

The number of teach<strong>in</strong>g personnel is 50, half of whom are women. The people responsible for the<br />

study programmes are Claus Secher <strong>and</strong> Dorte Skot-Hansen.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Culture <strong>in</strong> the reflexive society - mediation <strong>and</strong> plann<strong>in</strong>g:<br />

Applicants should have a university degree (BA) <strong>and</strong> should be Librarians or have another relevant<br />

degree.<br />
