Market<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Plann<strong>in</strong>g, ma<strong>in</strong> objectives:<br />

To provide a practical <strong>in</strong>troduction to bus<strong>in</strong>ess plann<strong>in</strong>g for the arts;<br />

To develop a clear mission <strong>and</strong> objectives for an arts organisation; <strong>and</strong><br />

To underst<strong>and</strong> the role of market<strong>in</strong>g with<strong>in</strong> an arts context.<br />

International Co-operation In the Arts:<br />

The sem<strong>in</strong>ar will focus on <strong>in</strong>ternational <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>tergovernmental organisations <strong>and</strong> their <strong>in</strong>fluence on<br />

<strong>cultural</strong> activities <strong>and</strong> artistic life.<br />

While the process of <strong>in</strong>ternationalisation of <strong>cultural</strong> life is irreversible, the capacity of exist<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>in</strong>ternational bodies to serve the artistic community is limited. Knowledge of the respective policies of<br />

these organisations, <strong>and</strong> their aims <strong>and</strong> programmes, is an essential tool to broaden one’s focus on<br />

<strong>in</strong>ternational <strong>cultural</strong> life, <strong>and</strong> current <strong>in</strong>ternational co-operation practice <strong>in</strong> the arts.<br />

Through presentations, this sem<strong>in</strong>ar will provide an <strong>in</strong>sight <strong>in</strong>to the exist<strong>in</strong>g programmes of various<br />

<strong>in</strong>ternational organisations, as well as the practice of <strong>in</strong>ternationally operat<strong>in</strong>g local organisations <strong>and</strong><br />

various networks.<br />

Open debate will conclude the daily sessions, <strong>in</strong> which participants will be <strong>in</strong>vited to comment on the<br />

questions raised <strong>and</strong> speakers will be confronted with problems <strong>and</strong> dilemmas brought up by the<br />

participants.<br />

International/European dimension<br />

The Course programmes have a strong <strong>in</strong>ternational orientation. SCF cooperates with the Amsterdam-<br />

Maastricht Summer University <strong>and</strong> Felix Meritis Foundation (The Netherl<strong>and</strong>s), CONCEPTS, Visit<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Arts (UK), <strong>and</strong> KulturKontakt (Austria).<br />

The <strong>in</strong>stitution is a member of Gulliver, CONCEPTS <strong>and</strong> ENCATC. SCF participates as host organisation<br />

<strong>in</strong> the Gulliver Connect programme.<br />

Special <strong>in</strong>formation<br />

After all the courses the students are <strong>in</strong>vited to jo<strong>in</strong> the Caucasian Arts Managers Network (CAMN) to<br />

participate <strong>in</strong> annual meet<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>and</strong> become <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> various co-projects.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

Student performance is evaluated through research <strong>and</strong> practical work/<strong>in</strong>ternship.<br />

Lecturers<br />

The number of teach<strong>in</strong>g personnel is 7, 2 of whom are women. Two are permanent <strong>and</strong> 4 are visit<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

The person responsible for the study programmes is Mr Iuri Mgebrishvili.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Selection is based on the participant’s CV, a motivation letter <strong>and</strong> a letter of recommendation.<br />

Student profile<br />

Most of the students come from the dramatic arts, music science or the visual arts; professionals<br />

work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the arts also attend. They come from Georgia <strong>and</strong> abroad.<br />

Number of students admitted<br />

The current number of students is 25. Thirty-five attend the International Co-operation In the Arts<br />

sem<strong>in</strong>ar.<br />

100-300 USD.<br />

Scholarships are available for participants from Caucasian Region.<br />
