Background, orientation <strong>and</strong> purpose<br />

The Culture <strong>and</strong> Leisure Management department of the University of Applied Sciences, Heilbronn,<br />

was established <strong>in</strong> 1996. The department tra<strong>in</strong>s its students <strong>in</strong> topics such as f<strong>in</strong>ance, market<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong><br />

organisation. The deadl<strong>in</strong>e for the w<strong>in</strong>ter semester, start<strong>in</strong>g 1 October, is 15 July. For the summer<br />

semester start<strong>in</strong>g 15 March, the deadl<strong>in</strong>e is 15 January.<br />

Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Degree Course - Major Culture <strong>and</strong> Leisure Management.<br />

Content<br />

The course imparts the necessary practical knowledge of Culture <strong>and</strong> Leisure Management, especially<br />

<strong>in</strong> areas like music, theatre, museums, sports, travel, etc. Special skills <strong>in</strong> market<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> <strong>management</strong><br />

of culture <strong>and</strong> leisure centres are also taught.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

Student performance is evaluated through exam<strong>in</strong>ations, papers, a f<strong>in</strong>al paper/thesis, research <strong>and</strong><br />

practical work/<strong>in</strong>ternship.<br />

Lecturers<br />

The number of teach<strong>in</strong>g personnel is 11, 4 of whom are women. Five are permanent <strong>and</strong> the rest are<br />

visit<strong>in</strong>g. The person responsible for the study programme is Prof. Dr Hermann-Josef Kiel.<br />
