Background, orientation <strong>and</strong> purpose<br />

The Centre for International Studies on Economics Growth was established <strong>in</strong> 1987. Its aim is to<br />

provide a centre of research which deals with economic activity <strong>and</strong> experience, with emphasis on the<br />

importance of <strong>in</strong>ternational economic variables. With<strong>in</strong> the framework of Italian university autonomy<br />

<strong>and</strong> its own statutory aims, the Centre promotes <strong>and</strong> coord<strong>in</strong>ates both scientific <strong>and</strong> educational<br />

activities accord<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>in</strong>terdiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary criteria. It organises sem<strong>in</strong>ars <strong>and</strong> conferences <strong>and</strong> sets up<br />

agreements with universities, national <strong>in</strong>stitutions <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational organisations. It can also operate<br />

<strong>in</strong> a consultant capacity when required.<br />

Research projects are developed both by the Centre’s own members <strong>and</strong> by external scholars. All the<br />

activities of the Centre are organised around Observatories <strong>and</strong> Research Sections. Each year a topic<br />

of particular significance is selected for debate at the Villa Mondragone International Economic<br />

Sem<strong>in</strong>ar. The Centre also organises Master courses for post-graduate specialisation.<br />

Master’s Programme on Economics <strong>and</strong> Management of Cultural Goods.<br />

12 months.<br />

Content<br />

The Master programme on Economics <strong>and</strong> Management of Cultural Goods is a one-year post-graduate<br />

programme. The Master programme is open to personnel of regional government offices, professional<br />

staff of museums <strong>and</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>in</strong>stitutions (such as archives <strong>and</strong> libraries), public <strong>and</strong> private<br />

managers of <strong>cultural</strong> activities <strong>and</strong> tourism, who are <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> upgrad<strong>in</strong>g their skills <strong>in</strong> or<br />

specialis<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the <strong>management</strong> <strong>and</strong> promotion of <strong>cultural</strong> heritage. The deadl<strong>in</strong>e for applications is <strong>in</strong><br />

November 2002.<br />

Special <strong>in</strong>formation<br />

Conferences <strong>and</strong> sem<strong>in</strong>ars are held by the Faculty of Economics <strong>and</strong> by BAICR SistemaCultura.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

Student performance is evaluated through exam<strong>in</strong>ations <strong>and</strong> papers <strong>and</strong> practical work/<strong>in</strong>ternship.<br />

Lecturers<br />

In the Master’s Programme on Economics <strong>and</strong> Management of Cultural Goods, the number of teach<strong>in</strong>g<br />

personnel <strong>in</strong>volved is about 40 (permanent 20 <strong>and</strong> visit<strong>in</strong>g 20), of whom 15 are women. The person<br />

responsible for the study programme is Professor Pasquale Lucio Sc<strong>and</strong>izzo.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

A university degree <strong>and</strong> some familiarity with computer technologies.<br />

Student profile<br />

Students <strong>in</strong> the Master’s Programme have a university degree; they come from Italy <strong>and</strong> Central<br />

Europe.<br />
