The UNESCO Chair on Cultural Policies <strong>and</strong> Co-operation at the University of Girona was established <strong>in</strong><br />

1992. In collaboration with the Interarts Foundation, it organises the current tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g programme for<br />

professionals <strong>and</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> managers of the <strong>in</strong>ternational constituency. Its structure <strong>and</strong> contents<br />

provide a postgraduate capacity for <strong>cultural</strong> active managers with previous tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g. The programme<br />

presents an update with an <strong>in</strong>ternational view, foster<strong>in</strong>g the exchange <strong>and</strong> transference about real<br />

subjects <strong>in</strong> the <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>management</strong> sector with theory <strong>and</strong> a co-operative perspective.<br />

The course takes place <strong>in</strong> the city of Girona (100km from Barcelona <strong>and</strong> 60 from France) with the<br />

collaboration of an important number of professionals <strong>and</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>in</strong>stitutions; this permits an<br />

exchange of <strong>cultural</strong> policies between their participants <strong>in</strong> medium <strong>and</strong> small towns. This shared<br />

experience allows diferent contacts to be planned which share common projects <strong>and</strong> provide contact<br />

<strong>and</strong> immersion tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g experience <strong>in</strong> specific <strong>cultural</strong> spaces.<br />

Objectives:<br />

To offer a postgraduate tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the field of <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>management</strong> oriented to reflect about the new<br />

scenarios of the <strong>cultural</strong> policies <strong>in</strong> a globalised world.<br />

To exam<strong>in</strong>e projects <strong>and</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> policies from the perspective of social-economical development,<br />

transferable creativity <strong>and</strong> human rights.<br />

To <strong>in</strong>tegrate theory about <strong>cultural</strong> development, the new realities <strong>in</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>in</strong>dustries, communication<br />

technologies <strong>and</strong> economic globalisation<br />

To analyse the profiles of the new <strong>cultural</strong> professions <strong>and</strong> the new competencies of <strong>cultural</strong> agents<br />

faced with the new scenarios of the <strong>cultural</strong> policies.<br />

To offer operative skills to design <strong>and</strong> to participate <strong>in</strong> co-operation projects <strong>and</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> exchange on<br />

an <strong>in</strong>ternational scale.<br />

To update the knowledge of research <strong>and</strong> exchange of data about culture <strong>and</strong> development.<br />

To <strong>in</strong>crease the availability of documents of <strong>in</strong>ternational <strong>cultural</strong> organisations related with for major<br />

discussion <strong>and</strong> debate.<br />

To carry out a process of <strong>in</strong>tensive <strong>and</strong> current tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g through group debates <strong>and</strong> to share the<br />

<strong>cultural</strong> reality of a medium-sized city.<br />
