Background, orientation <strong>and</strong> purpose<br />

ICCM, established <strong>in</strong> 1989, offers forward-look<strong>in</strong>g education <strong>and</strong> tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g follow<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>ternational<br />

st<strong>and</strong>ards, complemented by consultation tasks, research <strong>and</strong> development programmes, as well as<br />

publish<strong>in</strong>g activities. More than 700 arts managers have graduated from the programmes offered by<br />

the ICCM; around half of those graduated from the European Management Programme for the Arts<br />

<strong>and</strong> Media, established <strong>in</strong> co-operation with the University of L<strong>in</strong>z.<br />

Content<br />

European Management Programme for the Arts <strong>and</strong> Media:<br />

The programme comb<strong>in</strong>es the teach<strong>in</strong>g of <strong>management</strong> <strong>and</strong> adm<strong>in</strong>istrative skills with the exam<strong>in</strong>ation<br />

of the ethical, political, educational <strong>and</strong> social questions that underlie the practice, purpose <strong>and</strong> value<br />

of arts <strong>and</strong> culture; it is offered <strong>in</strong> co-operation with the University of L<strong>in</strong>z. The programme's structure<br />

consists of courses based on the above, with the purpose of provid<strong>in</strong>g post-graduate qualifications by<br />

impart<strong>in</strong>g the latest f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>and</strong> theories of both scientists <strong>and</strong> professionals. The programme is<br />

divided <strong>in</strong>to a Basic Course <strong>and</strong> an Advanced Course. The duration of the programme is normally six<br />

(half-yearly) terms, compris<strong>in</strong>g 110 lessons per term. There is a total of 180 acknowledgeable ETCS-<br />

Credits for previous studies <strong>and</strong> other education.<br />

Salzburg Summer Academy for Arts & Media & Management:<br />

An <strong>in</strong>tensive course for arts managers that enables them to complete specific arts or media projects<br />

with a high degree of professionalism. It <strong>in</strong>cludes project <strong>management</strong>, fund<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> fundrais<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

market<strong>in</strong>g, f<strong>in</strong>ancial <strong>management</strong> <strong>and</strong> budget<strong>in</strong>g. The <strong>in</strong>stitution is a member of ENCATC.<br />

International/European dimension<br />

The content of the programmes <strong>in</strong>cludes European structure, <strong>policy</strong>, <strong>and</strong> European tasks.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

European Management Programme for the Arts <strong>and</strong> Media:<br />

Student performance is evaluated through exam<strong>in</strong>ations, papers, a f<strong>in</strong>al paper/thesis <strong>and</strong> practical<br />

work/<strong>in</strong>ternship.<br />

Lecturers<br />

All academic staff have professional experience <strong>in</strong> the arts <strong>and</strong> media sector. The person responsible<br />
