Background, orientation <strong>and</strong> purpose<br />

IKM was established <strong>in</strong> 1997. Its mission is to offer tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> arts <strong>management</strong> at the highest<br />

possible <strong>in</strong>ternational level. The lecturers are mostly leaders of arts <strong>in</strong>stitutions with a world-wide<br />

reputation. The mission statement is, “Less theory, more practice”.<br />

Programme(s) <strong>and</strong> qualification(s)<br />

There are two weekend courses per year. There is also a series of 12 90-m<strong>in</strong>ute lectures offered<br />

throughout the year on a specific annual topic deal<strong>in</strong>g with a subject <strong>in</strong> arts <strong>management</strong>. These<br />

lectures are open to the general public.<br />

3 days or 1.5 hours.<br />

Content<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> objective is to offer further education for colleagues already work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the arts. The<br />

sem<strong>in</strong>ar to be held <strong>in</strong> autumn 2002 will probably focus on tax problems <strong>and</strong> fund rais<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

Student performance is evaluated through participation <strong>in</strong> the programme.<br />

Lecturers<br />

Number of teach<strong>in</strong>g personnel is 12, 6 of whom are women. Three are permanent <strong>and</strong> 9 are visit<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

The person responsible for the study programmes is Prof. Dr Eckard He<strong>in</strong>tz.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Applicants should have experience <strong>in</strong> the arts.<br />

Student profile<br />

Students are already work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the field of arts. They come from Germany <strong>and</strong> abroad.<br />

50 students admitted.<br />

Course fee<br />

For weekend sem<strong>in</strong>ars, 450 USD. The courses open to the general public are free of charge.<br />
