The CTCEMC provides alternative tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g programmes for national, regional <strong>and</strong> local <strong>cultural</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>stitutions such as museums, libraries, <strong>cultural</strong> clubs, regional directorates for culture <strong>and</strong> heritage,<br />

NGOs <strong>and</strong> private foundations. It offers courses on legislation regard<strong>in</strong>g national <strong>cultural</strong> heritage<br />

(registration, preservation, monitor<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> evaluation), art history, <strong>cultural</strong> anthropology, archaeology<br />

<strong>and</strong> contemporary history, ethnology <strong>and</strong> oral history, cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g education <strong>and</strong> tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g for tra<strong>in</strong>ers,<br />

<strong>cultural</strong> <strong>management</strong> <strong>and</strong> market<strong>in</strong>g, communication skills <strong>and</strong> methods, the use of PC software <strong>and</strong><br />

sett<strong>in</strong>g up data banks. Participants receive diplomas that are recognised all over the country<br />

(translators get certificates recognised by the M<strong>in</strong>istry of Justice).<br />

The CTCEMC draws from a rich array of <strong>in</strong>stitutional partners, from museums to libraries, from<br />

conservation laboratories to <strong>policy</strong> consultants. Its lecturers are drawn not only from academic ranks,<br />

but also from experts from the M<strong>in</strong>istry of Culture <strong>and</strong> museum specialists, from parliamentary<br />

commissions on culture, media centres <strong>and</strong> professional organisations. The programme <strong>in</strong> Basic<br />

<strong>Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g</strong> for Librarians started <strong>in</strong> 2001.<br />

Basic <strong>Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g</strong> for Librarians lead<strong>in</strong>g to a diploma.<br />

Content<br />

The curriculum is designed to transmit the elementary knowledge needed for good professional<br />

practice; use modern methods of learn<strong>in</strong>g which can, <strong>in</strong>teralia, change attitudes towards the h<strong>and</strong>l<strong>in</strong>g<br />

of <strong>in</strong>formation, <strong>and</strong> protect <strong>and</strong> add prom<strong>in</strong>ence to the national <strong>cultural</strong> heritage. The ma<strong>in</strong> fields of<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g are <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>policy</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>management</strong>. Lectures are given <strong>in</strong> Romanian <strong>and</strong> English.<br />

International/European dimension<br />

The <strong>in</strong>stitution is a member of such <strong>in</strong>ternational bodies as ICOM <strong>and</strong> ENCATC.<br />

Special <strong>in</strong>formation<br />

The <strong>in</strong>stitution offers also symposiums, round-tables <strong>and</strong> sessions on different topics.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

Evaluation of the students is made through research, a f<strong>in</strong>al paper/thesis <strong>and</strong> practical<br />

work/<strong>in</strong>ternship.<br />

Lecturers<br />

The number of teach<strong>in</strong>g personnel is 180, 70 of whom are women. Ten of the total number are<br />

permanent staff, <strong>and</strong> 170 are visit<strong>in</strong>g. The person responsible for the course is Silvia Nestorescu.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Applicants should have a university degree.<br />
