Created in 1946, the International Council of Museums is devoted to the promotion and development
of museums, the professional ethics and the heritage of mankind. ICOM is a non-governmental
organisation with more than 12,000 members, with 108 national committees and 25 scientific
committees, representing an active network of co-operation. ICOM is an association in partnership
relation with UNESCO.
