Background, orientation <strong>and</strong> purpose<br />

The Museum for Women <strong>in</strong> the Arts was established <strong>in</strong> 1981 as a forum for female artists, where they<br />

can undertake <strong>in</strong>novation, experiment, discussion <strong>and</strong> research. The ‘FrauenMuseum’ demonstrates<br />

the female view of the world. Art is the umbrella under which female visions of society are be<strong>in</strong>g<br />

developed. The ma<strong>in</strong> areas of work are exhibitions by female artists <strong>and</strong> the development of the<br />

Academy Artemisia, which <strong>in</strong> the future will provide education <strong>in</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>management</strong>.<br />

Duration<br />

6 - 18 months (variable).<br />

Content<br />

The programme will start <strong>in</strong> summer 2002. The ma<strong>in</strong> objectives will be entrepreneurship for female<br />

artists, cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g education for teachers <strong>and</strong> the def<strong>in</strong>ition of further professional objectives for<br />

graduates of art academies.<br />

Special <strong>in</strong>formation<br />

After complet<strong>in</strong>g the course, graduates hold a special art exhibition at the Museum.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

Student performance will be evaluated through exam<strong>in</strong>ations, papers, a f<strong>in</strong>al paper/thesis <strong>and</strong><br />

practical work/<strong>in</strong>ternship.<br />

Lecturers<br />

Academy Artemisia does not have teach<strong>in</strong>g personnel yet. The person responsible for the study<br />

programme is Gudrun Angelis.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Applicants should have appropriate experience.<br />
