If English is not the applicant’s first language, they will need to provide evidence of their proficiency <strong>in</strong><br />

written <strong>and</strong> spoken English. The normal m<strong>in</strong>imum requirement for admission to the programmes is an<br />

overall compulsory score of 6.5 on the British Council IELTS test or 575 on the TOEFL test. The British<br />

Council organises regular language tests <strong>in</strong> most countries. The University’s Language Centre provides<br />

a comprehensive suite of programmes to enable students to improve their English skills, from<br />

foundation level to <strong>in</strong>tensive pre-sessional English language programmes.<br />
