The aim of the University is to offer a high quality, modern education at the bachelor, masters <strong>and</strong><br />

doctoral levels, with the goal of facilitat<strong>in</strong>g a high level research <strong>and</strong> dissem<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g humanistic <strong>and</strong><br />

democratic values throughout Estonian society. The University was founded <strong>in</strong> 1919.<br />

Content<br />

The curriculum is structured <strong>in</strong> four content-related blocks: Sociology <strong>and</strong> Philosophy of Culture;<br />

Economy <strong>and</strong> Law; Organisation <strong>and</strong> Management; <strong>and</strong> Specialisation. The Programme <strong>in</strong>cludes<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g via lectures, distance learn<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> sem<strong>in</strong>ars. The studies take place <strong>in</strong> the form of <strong>in</strong>tensive<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g every other weekend. The programme leads to a total of 80 credits.<br />

International/European dimension<br />

The <strong>in</strong>stitution is a member of ENCATC.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

Evaluation of the students is made by exam<strong>in</strong>ations, papers, research, a f<strong>in</strong>al paper or thesis <strong>and</strong><br />

practical work/<strong>in</strong>ternship.<br />

Lecturers<br />

The number of teach<strong>in</strong>g personnel is 48, which <strong>in</strong>cludes about 20 lecturers from abroad.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Bachelor’s degree <strong>in</strong> arts, social sciences or humanities, or respective qualification.<br />

Student profile<br />

All students hold a university degree.<br />
