AUSTRIA<br />

Dieter Bogner founded Bogner Cultural Consult<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> 1994. Its activities are directly connected with<br />

the activities of its partner companies. The <strong>in</strong>stitution is aimed at museum developers <strong>and</strong> exhibition<br />

organisers who conceive, plan <strong>and</strong> complete new museums <strong>and</strong> exhibitions. The educational aim is to<br />

convey <strong>in</strong>ternational experiences <strong>in</strong> the development <strong>and</strong> <strong>management</strong> of museological plann<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong><br />

exhibition to its students <strong>in</strong> the most direct <strong>and</strong> practical way. Dieter Bogner organises sem<strong>in</strong>ars,<br />

teaches at universities <strong>in</strong> Vienna <strong>and</strong> Moscow, <strong>and</strong> offers students the chance to study <strong>in</strong> an <strong>in</strong>stitution<br />

with a rich museological library. Students will have the opportunity to participate <strong>in</strong> projects<br />

coord<strong>in</strong>ated by BCC.<br />

Cultural studies are organised <strong>in</strong> co-operation with the M<strong>in</strong>istry of Education <strong>and</strong> the M<strong>in</strong>istry of<br />

Foreign Affairs; sem<strong>in</strong>ars <strong>and</strong> workshops are organised <strong>in</strong> conjuction with Central <strong>and</strong> Eastern<br />

European <strong>in</strong>stitutions <strong>in</strong> the fields of museological plann<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> <strong>management</strong>. BCC’s current aim is to<br />

start workshops <strong>and</strong> lectures for small groups of young museum professionals.<br />

Content<br />

Museum Plann<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> Exhibition Management I/II:<br />

The tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g is built around practical experiences <strong>and</strong> teaches students how to conceive <strong>and</strong> manage a<br />

museum or an exhibition through plann<strong>in</strong>g, development, <strong>management</strong>, communication <strong>and</strong> presscoverage,<br />

<strong>and</strong> sponsorship to the conclud<strong>in</strong>g stages.<br />

Cultural <strong>and</strong> curatorial studies, sem<strong>in</strong>ars <strong>and</strong> workshops:<br />

These courses aim to give students the chance to learn how to conceive <strong>and</strong> manage a museum or<br />

exhibition through all stages: plann<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>in</strong>itial development, <strong>management</strong>, communication <strong>and</strong> presscoverage,<br />

<strong>and</strong> sponsorship. The course work is practical, based on everyday experience, <strong>and</strong> is carried<br />

out <strong>in</strong> groups of 5-10 participants.<br />

International/European dimension<br />

The <strong>in</strong>tention is to create a mutual exchange between east <strong>and</strong> west <strong>and</strong> to develop an Eastern<br />

European professional network. The <strong>in</strong>stitution is a member of ENCATC.<br />

Special <strong>in</strong>formation<br />

<strong>Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g</strong> activities are unique <strong>and</strong> based on the activities be<strong>in</strong>g conducted by the <strong>in</strong>stitutions <strong>and</strong><br />

bodies collaborat<strong>in</strong>g with BCC at the time the course is held.<br />
