Chester College is a college of the University of Liverpool. It was founded <strong>in</strong> 1839, orig<strong>in</strong>ally to<br />

prepare young men for the teach<strong>in</strong>g profession. It now consists of five separate academic schools:<br />

Arts & Humanities, Bus<strong>in</strong>ess, Education, Science & Health, <strong>and</strong> Nurs<strong>in</strong>g & Midwifery.<br />

Arts & Cultural Management is a programme run by The Department of Perform<strong>in</strong>g Arts <strong>in</strong> the School<br />

of Arts & Humanities. Students comb<strong>in</strong>e the programme with studies <strong>in</strong> one of the follow<strong>in</strong>g areas:<br />

Dance, Drama, Media for Performance, English Literature, F<strong>in</strong>e Art, Art History, Heritage Management,<br />

or Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Studies.<br />

Content<br />

Arts & Cultural Management Programme:<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> objective is to produce people who can create bridges between artists <strong>and</strong> audiences: arts<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> managers who use their skills, experiences <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>genuity to present arts <strong>and</strong> culture to<br />

the public.<br />

BA <strong>in</strong> Heritage Management:<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> objective is to produce <strong>in</strong>formed potential managers of heritage-related sites <strong>and</strong> events.<br />

The deadl<strong>in</strong>e for applications is <strong>in</strong> December each year for the follow<strong>in</strong>g academic year.<br />

MA <strong>in</strong> Performance Practice:<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> objective is to encourage the <strong>in</strong>terplay between theory <strong>and</strong> practice <strong>in</strong> the perform<strong>in</strong>g arts.<br />

Applications are accepted year round. Intake is <strong>in</strong> October.<br />

International/European dimension<br />

The programme is <strong>in</strong>ternational <strong>in</strong> scope. The Programmes <strong>in</strong> Arts & Cultural Management <strong>and</strong><br />

Heritage Management have well-established l<strong>in</strong>ks with <strong>in</strong>stitutions <strong>in</strong> F<strong>in</strong>l<strong>and</strong>, France, Belgium, Irel<strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> Hungary, <strong>and</strong> the LODIS project. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities<br />

to work/study abroad that the programme offers <strong>in</strong> the second year of study. The <strong>in</strong>stitution is an<br />

associate member of ENCATC <strong>and</strong> a member of ELIA.<br />
