Special <strong>in</strong>formation<br />

Profiles: Germany<br />

The Department of Book <strong>and</strong> Museum offers further education <strong>in</strong> the fields of catalogu<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> library<br />

software tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g for the participants of the Library <strong>and</strong> Information Science course. The Book Trade<br />

<strong>and</strong> Publish<strong>in</strong>g course has a presentation at the Book Fairs <strong>in</strong> Frankfurt <strong>and</strong> Leipzig every year. The<br />

Museology course has a permanent exhibition <strong>in</strong> the University Museum of Automation, <strong>and</strong><br />

participates <strong>in</strong> Colloquium "Leipzig discourse <strong>in</strong> museology" every two years. The Book Trade <strong>and</strong><br />

Publish<strong>in</strong>g course participates <strong>in</strong> the Leipzig Colloquium for Book <strong>and</strong> Press economics every year.<br />

Evaluation <strong>and</strong> assessment<br />

Students are evaluated through exam<strong>in</strong>ations, papers, research, f<strong>in</strong>al paper/thesis <strong>and</strong> practical<br />

work/<strong>in</strong>ternship.<br />

Lecturers<br />

The number of teach<strong>in</strong>g personnel is 19, of which 9 are women. There is also visit<strong>in</strong>g teach<strong>in</strong>g<br />

personnel but the number varies from semester to semester. The persons responsible for the study<br />

programmes are Prof. Dr Andrea Nikolaizig (Library <strong>and</strong> Information Science), Prof. Dr Renate Sälter<br />

(Book Trade <strong>and</strong> Publish<strong>in</strong>g) <strong>and</strong> Prof. Dr Kathar<strong>in</strong>a Flügel (Museology).<br />
