wounded should not leave <strong>the</strong> firing line, he who <strong>is</strong> seriously<br />

wounded should not cry out in pain”; “Let us see who can hand<br />

in <strong>the</strong> most weapons”; or “Let us see who can take <strong>the</strong> most pr<strong>is</strong>oners,”)<br />

At <strong>the</strong> same time, tasks are d<strong>is</strong>tributed <strong>to</strong> all political<br />

workers and activ<strong>is</strong>ts (superv<strong>is</strong>ion, leadership, or propaganda ).<br />

(4) Political workers should be sent <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> local population<br />

<strong>to</strong> ga<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong>m <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r, call meetings, and give talks, inspiring<br />

<strong>the</strong>m <strong>to</strong> participate in <strong>the</strong> battle or <strong>to</strong> join <strong>the</strong> ranks <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> porters<br />

or <strong>the</strong> transport units. As regards <strong>the</strong> organizations <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

popular masses, we should guide <strong>the</strong>m in methods <strong>of</strong> calling<br />

meetings, <strong>of</strong> fighting, and <strong>of</strong> preparing mobilization.<br />

(5) After <strong>the</strong> battle has begun, <strong>the</strong> most important political<br />

training workers should be sent <strong>to</strong> inspire <strong>the</strong> units responsible<br />

for <strong>the</strong> main attack or for particularly important actions. The<br />

less important political training workers should be sent <strong>to</strong> inspire<br />

<strong>the</strong> less important fighting units.<br />

(6) Propaganda units and groups <strong>of</strong> singers and dancers (all<br />

composed <strong>of</strong> lively and lovable boys in uniform and attractive<br />

clothing) should be sent in advance <strong>to</strong> positions along <strong>the</strong> side<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> roads where <strong>the</strong> army will advance, <strong>to</strong> give short talks,<br />

sing, dance, or shout slogans, so as <strong>to</strong> inspire <strong>the</strong> maximum <strong>of</strong><br />

courage in <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficers and soldiers.<br />

8. POLITICAL WORK AFTER THE BATTLE HAS BEGUN<br />

DISTRIBUTION<br />

1. After <strong>the</strong> battle has begun, we should pay attention <strong>to</strong> calling<br />

out slogans <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> soldiers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r side, so as <strong>to</strong> d<strong>is</strong>sipate <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

morale. <strong>Th<strong>is</strong></strong> <strong>is</strong> one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> forms taken by our work <strong>of</strong> sabotage.<br />

2. When <strong>the</strong> situation on <strong>the</strong> battlefield enters <strong>the</strong> stage <strong>of</strong> an<br />

encounter at close range or from positions arrayed opposite one ano<strong>the</strong>r,<br />

we dev<strong>is</strong>e a method for holding a joint meeting with <strong>the</strong> soldiers<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> opposite side and take advantage <strong>of</strong> th<strong>is</strong> opportunity <strong>to</strong><br />

give <strong>the</strong>m food, in order <strong>to</strong> gladden <strong>the</strong>ir hearts. After th<strong>is</strong>, we carry<br />

on more propaganda work, which must be prepared in advance.<br />

3. After <strong>the</strong> battle has begun, we must assuredly carry out propaganda<br />

directed <strong>to</strong>ward those outside our army. <strong>It</strong> <strong>is</strong> even more
