RESOLUTION E FEBRUARY 27, <strong>2001</strong><br />

WHEREAS, The Michigan Automobile Theft Prevention Authority (ATPA)<br />

awarded <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> a grant to reduce the incidence of<br />

automobile theft; and,<br />

WHEREAS, The grant received from the State amounted to 75% of the<br />

total award, <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong>'s share being 25%; and,<br />

WHEREAS, The ATPA Board informed <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> that they have<br />

adopted a policy change which reduces their grant award to 25%<br />

effective January 2002, <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong>'s share being 75%; and,<br />

WHEREAS, Currently there is a $1.00 assessment fee for insurance<br />

paid by car owners which supports the Auto Theft Teams; and,<br />

WHEREAS, Legislation has been introduced to charge the $1.00 fee<br />

to motorcycle and commercial truck drivers, as well.<br />

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, To assist in maintaining adequate<br />

funding for auto theft reduction we encourage the adoption of<br />

legislation that places a $1.00 assessment fee for insurance on<br />

motorcycle and commercial truck drivers.<br />

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be sent to<br />

the Governor, Michigan Counties, area Legislators, the Automobile<br />

Theft Prevention Authority and the Michigan Association of <strong>County</strong><br />

Prosecutors.<br />

By Commissioner Horn: That the Resolution be adopted. The Chair<br />

asked for a show of hands. Resolution Approved unanimously.<br />

UNFINISHED BUSINESS<br />

Chair Fish announced there was a motion on the floor from the<br />

January 23 session to adopt Report 6.1, if there are no<br />

exceptions. Hearing none, the Chair called the question; motion<br />

carried unanimously.<br />

FROM: SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON RULES -- 6.1 JANUARY 23, <strong>2001</strong><br />

The <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Commissioners at its January 9 session<br />

received the proposed <strong>2001</strong> Rules. The amendments were laid on the<br />

table for adoption at this day's session, under Unfinished<br />

Business. At that same time, other sections of the Rules were<br />

referred to Counsel for review.<br />

Based on our second meeting, your Special Committee on Rules<br />

herewith submits for approval ADDITIONAL amendments, as attached.<br />

Proposed changes are in bold type, deletions are crossed out, and<br />

recommendations are in italic type.<br />

In accordance with Article X, we recommend the proposed amendments<br />

to the Rules be laid on the table and considered under Unfinished<br />

Business at the next day's session.<br />
