MARCH <strong>2001</strong><br />

First day of the March Session of the Board of Commissioners of<br />

<strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong>, Michigan, Tuesday, March 27, <strong>2001</strong>. The Board met<br />

pursuant to adjournment at 5:00 p.m.<br />

Honorable Robert L. Fish in the Chair.<br />

Deputy Clerk Kaye Volz Schultz took roll, quorum present as<br />

follows:<br />

PRESENT: Raymond F. Bartels, Thomas A. Basil, Robert D. Blaine,<br />

Jeanine A. Collison, Robert L. Fish, Eddie F. Foxx, James M.<br />

Graham, Todd M. Hare, Kenneth B. Horn, Richard F. Mallette,<br />

Michael P. O'Hare, Carl E. Ruth, Connie D. Smith, Robert M. Woods<br />

Jr., Patrick A. Wurtzel - 15<br />

ABSENT: - 0<br />

TOTAL: - 15<br />

Commissioner Horn opened the meeting with a prayer, followed by<br />

the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.<br />

Minutes of the preceding meeting were approved as proofread and<br />

corrected by the Clerk.<br />

At 5:04 p.m., Chair Fish opened the Public Hearing on the<br />

Brownfield Redevelopment Plan for Tuscarora, Inc. located in<br />

Chesaning. He called for comments three consecutive times. There<br />

were none. He announced the hearing would remain open.<br />

AUDIENCES<br />

Clerk Schultz called on Suzanne Greenberg, Executive Director,<br />

Child Abuse & Neglect Council of <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong>. Chair Fish read<br />

and presented the proclamation as listed below:<br />

PROCLAMATION<br />

WHEREAS, Since 1983, National Child Abuse Prevention Month<br />

has been observed every year in April. The goal of this monthlong<br />

observance is to increase awareness of child abuse and its<br />

prevention; and,<br />

WHEREAS, Reports estimate over three million children are<br />

abused and neglected each year, and three children die each day<br />

due to abuse; and,<br />

WHEREAS, Child maltreatment continues to be a major threat to<br />

the well-being of the Nation's children. Thankfully, many<br />

communities are becoming more involved in activities and events<br />

that promote the message that child abuse can and must come to an<br />

end; and,<br />

WHEREAS, In memory of the children who have died by violence,<br />

the fourth Friday in April is set aside to recognize these little
