FROM: COMMITTEE ON HUMAN SERVICES -- 2.1 April 24, <strong>2001</strong><br />

Your committee has considered information from William Lechel,<br />

Mosquito Abatement Director, regarding the Shiawassee Wildlife<br />

Refuge proposal to eliminate mosquito abatement on all refuge<br />

lands.<br />

It is our recommendation that the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of<br />

Commissioners go on record objecting to the policy of eliminating<br />

mosquito abatement on refuge lands; further, due to the policy,<br />

objecting to expansion of Shiawassee Wildlife Refuge lands in<br />

<strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong>. Under the proper order of business, the<br />

appropriate resolution will be submitted.<br />

Your committee has considered communication no. 3-27-14 from John<br />

Niederhauser, Health Officer, <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Department of Public<br />

Health asking to accept additional allocations from the Michigan<br />

Department of Community Health for AIDS Counseling and Testing,<br />

Family Planning, Laboratory Services Division, HUD Lead Abatement<br />

Program and Immunization Field Representative Program. The<br />

categorical allocations are as follows:<br />

AIDS Counseling and Testing Program $ 3,637<br />

Family Planning Program 21,846<br />

Laboratory Services Division 11,089<br />

HUD Lead Abatement Program 3,000<br />

Immunization Field Representative Program 2,305<br />

Current Allocation Amount $41,877<br />

All increases were included in the FY 00/01 Health Department<br />

Budget and do not require a <strong>County</strong> match.<br />
