Your committee has considered communication no. 8-14-16 from John<br />

Niederhauser, Health Officer, <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Department of Public<br />

Health asking to accept a $600,00 grant from Health Resources and<br />

Services Administration for the Great Beginnings - Healthy Start<br />

Project.<br />

This four (4) year grant award will fund one (1) Senior Public<br />

Health Nurse, one (1) Public Health Nurse, one (1) Clerk/Typist<br />

III and two (2) Health Advocates. The following positions will<br />

continue with this funding source, replacing a previous grant: one<br />

(1) Public Health Service Coordinator and one (1) Health Advocate.<br />

The grant is additional revenue and no local match is required.<br />

It is the recommendation of your committee that the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />

Department of Public Health accept the grant award for the Great<br />

Beginnings - Healthy Start Project in accordance with <strong>County</strong><br />

policy and procedure; further, that the proper <strong>County</strong> officials be<br />

authorized and directed to amend the budget accordingly and sign<br />

the necessary documents on behalf of the <strong>County</strong> subject to<br />

approval by the Controller as to substance and Counsel as to legal<br />

form.<br />

FROM: COURTS & PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE -- 3.1 AUGUST 14, <strong>2001</strong><br />

Your committee has considered communication no. 8-14-30 from<br />

Sheriff Charles Brown asking authorization to dispose of recovered<br />

stolen property at the <strong>County</strong> Auction, in accordance with State<br />

Statute. (attached)<br />

It is our recommendation to approve the request of Sheriff Brown<br />

to dispose of recovered stolen property and that the items be<br />

placed in the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Auction on September 8, <strong>2001</strong>.<br />
