Your committee has considered communication no. 2-27-29 from Marie<br />

Ruemenapp, Director, Michigan State University Extension asking to<br />

accept its portion of a grant from the <strong>Saginaw</strong> Intermediate School<br />

District for All Student Achieve Program-Parent Intervention and<br />

Education (ASAP-PIE).<br />

The grant, in the amount of $967,000, will provide in-home<br />

parenting education with families who have children five and under<br />

from outside the <strong>Saginaw</strong> City School District. (The City has its<br />

own program.)<br />

The grant will fund 17 MSU positions: sixteen (16) Extension<br />

Parenting Educator Agents, and one (1) Extension Parenting<br />

Education Coordinator Agent; two <strong>County</strong> clerical positions which<br />

will require factoring; and an operating budget.<br />

It is the recommendation of your committee that the <strong>County</strong> accept<br />

the ASAP-PIE grant for Michigan State University Extension to<br />

support nineteen (19) positions in accordance with <strong>County</strong> policy<br />

and procedure; further, that the proper <strong>County</strong> officials be<br />

authorized and directed to execute the Memorandums of Agreement<br />

between the <strong>County</strong> and MSU to hire the staff, and amend the budget<br />

accordingly.<br />

FROM: COMMITTEE ON COUNTY SERVICES -- 3.1 MARCH 27, <strong>2001</strong><br />

Your committee has considered communication 2-27-23 from Jon<br />

Merman, Administrator, <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Brownfield Redevelopment<br />

Authority asking for approval of the Redevelopment Plan for<br />

Tuscarora, Inc. as shown on the attached summary. A public hearing<br />

is being held at this day's session regarding the project.<br />

We agree with the request. Under the proper order of business, the<br />

appropriate resolution will be submitted to accomplish same.<br />
