PROCLAMATIONS<br />

Chair Fish proclaimed the following:<br />

PROCLAMATION<br />

WHEREAS, Americans traditionally have volunteered their time,<br />

talent, and energy to help one another and their communities; and,<br />

WHEREAS, The active involvement of citizens is needed today more<br />

than ever to combat growing human and social problems, to renew<br />

our belief that these problems can be solved, and to renew our<br />

sense of community; and,<br />

WHEREAS, Volunteering offers all citizens the opportunity to and<br />

widened horizons; and,<br />

WHEREAS, National Volunteer Week offers a special opportunity to<br />

publicly celebrate the accomplishments of the hundreds of people<br />

in <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> who volunteer, and to encourage everyone to get<br />

involved.<br />

NOW, THEREFORE, I Robert L. Fish, Chair of the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />

Board of Commissioners do hereby proclaim the month of April, <strong>2001</strong><br />

as: VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION MONTH in the <strong>County</strong> of <strong>Saginaw</strong> and in<br />

doing so invite all citizens to join me in honoring all<br />

volunteers, our greatest natural resource.<br />

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the<br />

seal of the <strong>County</strong> of <strong>Saginaw</strong> to be affixed this 24th day of April<br />

in the year of Our Lord Two Thousand and One.<br />

PROCLAMATION<br />

WHEREAS, Sexual assault is a crime of violence, manipulation<br />

and exploitation. Two million sexual assaults are reported each<br />

year in the United States. In fact, 1 in 4 females and 1 in 8<br />

males are victims of sexual assault by the age of 18; and,<br />

WHEREAS, The Sexual Assault Program of Child and Family<br />

Services understand that survivors of sexual assault/abuse require<br />

crisis intervention, supportive counseling, advocacy services;<br />

and, WHEREAS, The Sexual Assault Program, serving <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />

since 1976, is dedicated to helping people regain their security<br />

and confidence following an assault; and,<br />

WHEREAS, The Sexual Assault Program provides round the clock<br />

crisis, intervention, medical and legal advocacy, short and long<br />

term counseling to victims of sexual assault/abuse and/or<br />

harassment. It also provides prevention programs to preschool and<br />

kindergarten children, high school students and education to the<br />

community.<br />

NOW, THEREFORE, I Robert L. Fish, Chair of the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />

Board of Commissioners do hereby proclaim April, <strong>2001</strong> as: SEXUAL<br />

ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH in the <strong>County</strong> of <strong>Saginaw</strong> and in doing so<br />

recognize the services available through the Sexual Assault<br />

Program of Child and Family Services.<br />
