Board of Commissioners May 22, <strong>2001</strong><br />

<strong>County</strong> event center millage vote. The millage has since been<br />

approved.<br />

The current additional 1% on the Hotel / Motel tax for purposes of<br />

funding the City of <strong>Saginaw</strong> Civic Center will end as of September<br />

30, <strong>2001</strong> as originally approved to end.<br />

The continuation of the 1% Hotel / Motel tax for purposes of<br />

partial funding of the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Event Center was part of the<br />

original Building Authority recommendation of February 20, <strong>2001</strong>.<br />

Mr. Peter Jensen, <strong>County</strong> Civic Counsel has prepared the<br />

appropriate language amending Accommodations Ordinance #103<br />

extending the<br />

current 5% room tax for up to the ten year period of the millage,<br />

effective October 1, <strong>2001</strong>.<br />

Under the proper order of business the appropriate resolution will<br />

be submitted to accomplish same.<br />

Your committee has considered communication no. 4-24-19 from<br />

Pamela K. Ogden, Executive Director, Region VII Area Agency on<br />

Aging asking for a letter of support for the Annual Implementation<br />

Plan for Fiscal Year <strong>2001</strong> - 2002. The Plan has the support of the<br />

Commission on Aging Board and Karen Courneya, Commission on Aging<br />

Director.<br />

It is the recommendation of your committee that the attached<br />

letter of support be forwarded to Region VII.<br />
