Board of Commissioners May 22, <strong>2001</strong><br />

WHEREAS, <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> is honored to join the City of <strong>Saginaw</strong> and<br />

the State of Michigan at the <strong>2001</strong> <strong>Saginaw</strong> Police Department Awards<br />

Ceremony and Memorial Service.<br />

WHEREAS, It is today that we set aside this moment in time:<br />

.To recognize the Law Enforcement Officers who demonstrated<br />

exceptional conduct beyond the normal call of duty;<br />

.To acknowledge the private citizens who provided heroic<br />

assistance; and<br />

.To remember the Officers who lost their lives in the performance<br />

of their duties.<br />

WHEREAS, <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> extends its deepest gratitude and<br />

appreciation:<br />

.To the Officers who protect and serve the community;<br />

.To their Families who provide support and love; and<br />

.To the Volunteers who offer their time and energy to law<br />

enforcement.<br />

WHEREAS, <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> pays its deepest tribute to the slain<br />

Officers who have made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.<br />

They live on in our hearts and memories.<br />

NOW THEREFORE I, Robert L. Fish, Chair of the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board<br />

of Commissioners do hereby proclaim: May as LAW ENFORCEMENT MONTH<br />

and May 16 as POLICE MEMORIAL DAY in the <strong>County</strong> of <strong>Saginaw</strong> and in<br />

doing so bring public awareness to the continuing commitment of<br />

the Law Enforcement Officers, present - past - and future, who<br />

preserve and maintain the order and safety in our families, homes<br />

and communities.<br />

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the<br />

seal of the <strong>County</strong> of <strong>Saginaw</strong> to be affixed this 16th day of May<br />

in the year of Our Lord Two Thousand and One.<br />

PROCLAMATION<br />

WHEREAS, Law Day U.S.A. will be celebrated in <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> on<br />

Thursday, May 3, <strong>2001</strong>. This year the theme is CELEBRATE YOUR<br />

FREEDOM - "Protecting the Best Interests of the Child;" and,<br />

WHEREAS, The Law is not only a code of conduct binding individuals<br />

to the community's requirements, it embodies the community's<br />

guarantee of the protection of the rights of all through the due<br />

process of The Law; and,<br />

WHEREAS, Law Day U.S.A. was established by United States<br />

Presidential Proclamation in 1958, and reaffirmed by a joint<br />

resolution of Congress in 1961; and,
