BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the effective date of this change<br />

Employees Retirement Board within ten days after its adoption.<br />

majority vote of the members elect at a regular meeting of the<br />

<strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Commissioners, held on the 16th day of<br />

RESOLUTION "B" OCTOBER 16, <strong>2001</strong><br />

SUPPORTING THE HELMET LAW AND OPPOSING HOUSE BILL 4823<br />

WHEREAS, In 1970 the State of Michigan enacted Rules making it<br />

mandatory for all motorcycle riders and passengers to wear a<br />

helmet; and,<br />

WHEREAS, Legislation has been introduced in House Bill 4823 to<br />

provide exceptions under certain circumstances; and,<br />

WHEREAS, Studies have ascertained that the use of a helmet reduces<br />

the severity of injury, the likelihood of death and the overall<br />

cost of medical care.<br />

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of<br />

Commissioners supports the existing helmet law and opposes House<br />

Bill 4823 to amend it.<br />

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be<br />

distributed to all Michigan Counties, Representative Gene<br />

DeRossett, area Legislators, the Michigan Association of Counties,<br />

and Dodak, Kelly & Associates.<br />
