Moment of silence followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the<br />

Flag.<br />

Minutes of the preceding meeting were approved as proofread and<br />

corrected by the Clerk.<br />

AUDIENCES<br />

Chair Fish called on Commissioner Collison who noted the flags she<br />

distributed today were provided by <strong>Saginaw</strong> Public Libraries. The<br />

Chair asked her to thank the Library on behalf of the Board.<br />

Commissioner Foxx entered the meeting, followed by Commissioner<br />

Smith.<br />

Clerk Schultz called on Kathryn Rood and Lorraine Corl, Jury<br />

Commission members, who voiced their objections to reductions in<br />

the Jury Commission budget, as well as, concerns about how the<br />

work will be done. The Chair asked Controller McGill to comment.<br />

He responded that the Clerk's Office is expected to absorb the<br />

work, and together they are moving forward with the transition.<br />

He was confident that cost savings had been achieved and that what<br />

needs to be done, will be done.<br />

Chair Fish introduced the Special Resolution of Support included<br />

in the Board Packet.<br />

RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT SEPTEMBER 18, <strong>2001</strong><br />

In response to the horrific acts of terrorism that occurred on<br />

September 11, <strong>2001</strong> the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Commissioners<br />

adopts this resolution.<br />

WHEREAS, The <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Commissioners express<br />

our grief and anger over the terrorist acts that took place on<br />

Tuesday, September 11, <strong>2001</strong>.<br />

WHEREAS, We support the President of the United States and<br />

our Leaders in defending against additional attacks and finding<br />

all perpetrators to bring them to justice.<br />

WHEREAS, We extend our deepest sympathy to the victims and<br />

all those suffering as a result of this catastrophe.<br />

WHEREAS, We commend the emergency personnel and volunteers<br />

who are working night and day to recover and restore.<br />

WHEREAS, We thank the newsmedia for keeping us informed by<br />

reporting in a professional manner.<br />

WHEREAS, We encourage our residents to carry on with the<br />

regular activities of their lives and to assist in the aftermath<br />

of this disaster in ways they are able.<br />
