Board of Commissioners October 16, <strong>2001</strong><br />

(Equalization) for giving him a tour and overview of their<br />

operations. He said it was very informative and rewarding.<br />

Commissioner Smith reiterated how very deserving the Chairman was<br />

to receive the Spirit of <strong>Saginaw</strong> Award, and how his leadership<br />

abilities stands out.<br />

Commissioner Smith said she attended the MSU tour and noted what a<br />

fine job the Director and her staff did. The Chair asked that<br />

this be relayed to Director Marie Ruemenapp.<br />

Commissioner Bartels reported he was present at the ground<br />

breaking ceremony for Center Courts in <strong>Saginaw</strong> Township. He said<br />

it will be a facility for the entire <strong>County</strong>. The project is<br />

funded with a grant and no local tax dollars were spent.<br />

On a lighter note, Commissioner Hare brought up the November 3<br />

Football Game between the University of Michigan and Michigan<br />

State - Go Blue; Commissioner Horn remarked at the October 5<br />

Annual Awards Luncheon some comments were made about Chair Fish's<br />

golfing abilities, however Commissioner Horn countered this by<br />

reporting that Chair Fish took 1st place in the longest putt at<br />

the legislative golf match in Frankenmuth. Commissioner Basil<br />

humorously retorted, "Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and<br />

again." On that note the meeting concluded.<br />

Thereupon, the Board adjourned at 5:42 p.m.<br />
