RESOLUTION OF RECOGNITION<br />

Presented To:<br />

DR. SAMUEL H. SHAHEEN<br />

WHEREAS, This afternoon, Friday, October 19, <strong>2001</strong>, we are gathered<br />

here at the <strong>County</strong> Event Center for the 9th Annual Minority<br />

Business Month Luncheon. The theme is: "The Foresight of Doing<br />

Business"; and,<br />

WHEREAS, It affords us great pleasure to honor one of the keynote<br />

speakers for this occasion, Dr. Samuel H. Shaheen, highly<br />

respected physician and entrepreneur; and,<br />

WHEREAS, Dr. Shaheen, certified in Family Practice, has served the<br />

<strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> community since 1952. His professional affiliates<br />

include: the <strong>Saginaw</strong> Osteopathic Society, and the Michigan<br />

Osteopathic Association; and,<br />

WHEREAS, Dr. Shaheen is actively involved in the community through<br />

his membership at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, the Community Affairs<br />

Committee, and the 100 Club of <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> which benefits<br />

families of firemen and police officers; and,<br />

WHEREAS, One of Dr. Shaheen’s best known work is the conversion of<br />

a one-time K-Mart on State Street into the Horizons Conference<br />

Center. His other outstanding building, remodeling land<br />

development accomplishments are, the Davenport Inn, Timbers<br />

Restaurant, the Frame Shop, several nursing care facilities and<br />

the multi-million dollar Michigan Cardiovascular Institute; and,<br />
