update on the <strong>County</strong> Event Center. Any discussion could take<br />

place at the end of the meeting.<br />

Since the <strong>County</strong> acquired the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Event Center, much<br />

work and effort has gone into making the facility a success.<br />

There are four main areas to concentrate upon:<br />

1. <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Event Center Advisory Group<br />

2. <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Building Authority Actions<br />

3. <strong>2001</strong> <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Event Center Fall Schedule<br />

4. Other Issues<br />

SAGINAW COUNTY EVENT CENTER ADVISORY GROUP<br />

The Advisory Group is comprised of 17 <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />

residents. The Building Authority appointed everyone who applied<br />

for membership. Members include William A. Bailey, Thomas A.<br />

Basil, Diane Bassett, Wilfred Beal, Jeffrey Bookmyer, Robert L.<br />

Fish, Angela Garner, Steven G. Gerhardt, Kenneth B. Horn, Don<br />

Keller, Barbara J. Kemp-Lauria, Dave Kessel, Art Lewis, George L.<br />

Olson, Kathleen Packard, Kathryn Rood, and Paul H. Wendler.<br />

The organizational meeting was held September 25, <strong>2001</strong> at 8:30<br />

a.m. at the Event Center. During this meeting, the group elected<br />

officers: David Kessel, Chairperson; Don Keller, Vice-Chairperson;<br />

and Angela Garner, Secretary. The next meeting is scheduled for<br />

November 7, <strong>2001</strong> at 11:45 a.m. in the Event Center Garden Room.<br />

Agenda issues will include an Ontario Hockey League Update, and<br />

discussion on naming rights for the facility and possible removal<br />

of the Pedway.<br />

SAGINAW COUNTY BUILDING AUTHORITY<br />

Since the 0.4500 Mills approval on May 8, <strong>2001</strong>, the Building<br />

Authority has been busy. There are five members of the Building<br />

Authority: Marc McGill, Chairman; Peter C. Jensen, Secretary;<br />

Marvin Hare, Treasurer; Leon Turnwald, and Lee Carpenter.<br />

Currently, they are working on a $14 million Bond issue that will<br />

include renovations and equipment purchase with delivery of the<br />

bonds scheduled for February 5, 2002.<br />

Spence Brothers and J.R. Heineman submitted design-build<br />

proposals to the Building Authority. The two contractors were<br />

graded on technical proposals and cost proposals. The ten-member<br />

review panel (consisting of <strong>County</strong> Architect, Chris Kulhanek; Greg<br />

Lubben, Dow Corning; JoAnn Crary, <strong>Saginaw</strong> Future; Bryan Hayden,<br />
