REPORTS OF REGULAR COMMITTEES<br />

FROM: COMMITTEE ON HUMAN SERVICES -- 1.1 March 27, <strong>2001</strong><br />

Your committee has considered communication 3-27-1 from John<br />

Niederhauser, Health Officer, <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Department of Public<br />

Health asking to accept its portion of a grant from the <strong>Saginaw</strong><br />

Intermediate School District for All Student Achieve Program-<br />

Parent Intervention and Education (ASAP-PIE) in the amount of<br />

$184,539.<br />

The ASAP-PIE grant will expand and enhance current services (lead<br />

screening, physical health assessment, immunizations, hearing and<br />

vision, and developmental screening) to families with children<br />

ages birth to five years of age residing in <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong>. The<br />

operation will involve one (1) F.T.E. Nursing Supervisor (H-10),<br />

one (1) F.T.E. Public Health Nurse (P-06), and one (1) F.T.E.<br />

Health Technician (T-09). The Board of Health approved the grant<br />

and no additional revenue is requested from the <strong>County</strong>.<br />

It is our recommendation that the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Department of<br />

Public Health be authorized to accept the ASAP-PIE grant with the<br />

three (3) additional positions to provide health care services to<br />

families in <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> as outlined above; further, that the<br />

proper <strong>County</strong> officials be authorized and directed to execute the<br />

necessary documents and amend the budget in accordance with <strong>County</strong><br />

policy and procedure.<br />

Your committee has considered communication 2-27-30 from John<br />

Niederhauser, Health Officer, <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Department of Public<br />

Health requesting approval of new and revised service fees for the<br />

Environmental Health Division. (attachment)<br />

It is our recommendation to approve the fees for the Environmental<br />

Health Division for <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Department of Public Health, as<br />

submitted; further that the proper <strong>County</strong> officials be authorized<br />

and directed to implement same.<br />
