5.That Michigan State University Extension shall assume liability<br />

for worker's compensation and unemployment compensation.<br />

6.That <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Commissioners shall supply adequate<br />

office furniture and facilities, office supplies and<br />

equipment, and shall cover travel reimbursement, per diem and<br />

other costs. associated with carrying out the position's<br />

responsibilities from multiple county held MSUE - Special<br />

Project funds.<br />

7.That the person occupying this position shall be an employee of<br />

Michigan State University and shall be subject to the same<br />

terms of employment, supervision and control as any other so<br />

classified employee of Michigan State University Extension.<br />

8.That this agreement shall cover the period of July 1, <strong>2001</strong>, to<br />

June 30, 2004. Either party may terminate this agreement with<br />

sixty (60) days written notice to the other party.<br />

FROM: COURTS & PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE -- 2.1 JUNE 26, <strong>2001</strong><br />

Your committee considered communication no. 6-26-24 from Sheriff<br />

Charles L. Brown asking to accept a $34,465.07 Special Equipment<br />

Award from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for the <strong>2001</strong><br />

Marine Safety Program.<br />

The DNR will reimburse <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> $25,848.80 to assist in<br />

purchasing a new boat, trailer and communication system (mobile<br />

radios) for the Marine Division. The required local match of<br />

$8,616.27 will be paid with funds available in the Public<br />

Improvement Fund and will be partially offset by the net proceeds<br />

from auctioning the existing 1987 Boston Whaler boat.<br />

We recommend that <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> accept the grant from the<br />

Department of Natural Resources for the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Marine<br />

Division, as outlined above; further, that the proper <strong>County</strong><br />

officials be authorized and directed to amend the budget and<br />

execute the necessary documents on behalf of the <strong>County</strong>, subject<br />

to review by the Controller as to substance and Counsel as to<br />

legal form.<br />
